MissionForce is seeking a talented Senior Member of Technical Staff to join our development team. In this role, you will develop innovative solutions on Salesforce Government Cloud for Federal agencies, the Department of Defense, and government contractors.
Qualified candidates will have deep expertise in Java and modern backend development. The ideal candidates will have solid engineering fundamentals, a strong sense of ownership and the ability to design and build scalable, reliable systems. You will ensure applications meet government security and compliance standards. This is a hands-on development position where you'll contribute to mission-critical applications that serve millions of citizens.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain backend services and components using Java and related frameworks.
Build scalable, resilient, and secure distributed systems.
Participate in architecture and design discussions; influence technical direction.
Own features end-to-end—from design and implementation to testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and uphold high engineering standards.
Troubleshoot complex issues across services, databases, and infrastructure layers.
Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and cross-functional teams.
Continuously improve development processes, tooling, and system observability.
Stay current with emerging technologies and bring forward relevant ideas
Build complex integrations between Salesforce and government systems using REST/SOAP APIs
Develop solutions that work in air-gapped and offline environments
Optimize applications for performance within governor limits
Create reusable components and frameworks for government use cases
Technical Leadership
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development team members
Lead code reviews and establish coding standards
Provides oversight through code and design reviews for features delivered by other developers within their scrum team.
Collaborate with architects on technical design decisions
Drive adoption of best practices for Salesforce development
Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and sprint planning
Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing
Develop test plans and test automation for features and/or products
Verify quality of the code delivered through manual and automated testing. Extend the automation framework where necessary.
Work closely with senior developers, PM, and UX to ensure their features are delivered to meet business and quality requirements
Actively influence management regarding tools, technology and testing requirements.
Troubleshoot production issues.
Platform Expertise
Work with OmniStudio for dynamic forms and business process automation
Implement security controls for government compliance requirements
Develop solutions using Platform Events and asynchronous processing
Build Experience Cloud sites for constituent-facing applications
Integrate with Salesforce Data Cloud and AI capabilities
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of software development experience and strong proficiency in Java, including experience with Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, or similar frameworks.
Understanding of Object-Oriented Design, Data Structures, Algorithms, and design patterns.
Expeirence building RESTful APIs, microservices, or distributed backend systems.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
Experience with Agile development methodologies
Must be a US Citizen
Must be eligible to obtain Secret clearance
Clean background suitable for positions of public trust

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Government Cloud or Public Sector Solutions
Knowledge of government compliance requirements
Understanding of Salesforce security best practices
Experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems
Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
Experience building highly available, fault-tolerant services.
