About the role

The Product Pilot Program Manager is responsible for end-to-end management of customer pilot programs for pre-GA features at Slack. This role serves as the strategic orchestrator of pilot initiatives, managing everything from initial program setup through legal compliance, customer recruitment, execution, and post-pilot analysis. The ideal candidate will bridge product development, customer success, legal operations, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality customer feedback that drives product decisions - all with an eye towards constant improvement and automation wherever possible.

Your Impact - Responsibilities

External Pilot Excellence

  • Define and Drive Pilot success for all our tier 2 and higher products / features, accelerating speed to insight for our product teams

  • Document and standardize the end-to-end pilot sign-up, customer onboarding, management, and close-out process across all product teams - leveraging automation and AI wherever possible

  • Refine and continuously improve pilot methodologies based on learnings from historical launches (Canvas, Huddles, Lists, Workflow Builder, AI features)

  • Create scalable frameworks that can be adopted across PDE teams regardless of product complexity or target audience

Strategic Partnership & Execution

  • Partner directly with PDE leads, Slack Research and TPMs to embed pilot processes into every build and launch cycle from conception to GA

  • Partner directly with product legal teams to uncover levers to expedite Slack-owned pilot contract processes

  • Streamline nomination process and approvals to standardized how pilot customers are approved and/or rejected based on product priorities and go-to-market fit

  • Support start to finish pilot execution for every prioritized launch, ensuring consistent quality and measurement standards (includes activities such as pilot record creation, nomination management, external channel stand-up)

  • Ensure there are clear success criteria for each pilot, including customer value propositions, use cases, and minimum viable measurement requirements

Data-Driven Insights & Feedback Loop

  • Establish systematic capture mechanisms for pilot insights, learnings, and improvement recommendations

  • Develop standardized reporting that translates pilot outcomes into actionable product and go-to-market insights

  • Build knowledge repository of pilot best practices and learnings for organizational scaling

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field. Experience will be evaluated based on the core competencies for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, work experience, etc.)

  • 7+ years experience managing cross-functional programs spanning engineering, product, marketing, and sales teams

  • Demonstrated ability to create scalable processes and frameworks from ambiguous requirements

  • Deep understanding of product development lifecycles and launch methodologies

  • Basic understanding of software development processes and technical product constraints

  • Familiarity with product analytics platforms (Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar)

  • Data-driven decision making with proficiency in analytics tools and metrics frameworks

  • Smart, humble, hardworking, and collaborative mindset: ready to partner and work cross-functionally to drive consistent value delivery and process improvement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience at high-growth B2B SaaS companies with complex product portfolios

  • Background in collaboration software, productivity tools, or workplace technology

  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree in business, product management, or related field

  • Track record of successful product launches with measurable customer and business impact

  • Core understanding of enterprise sales cycles and self-serve product adoption patterns

Success Metrics

  • Pilot program participation rates and customer satisfaction scores

  • Time-to-insights from pilot initiation to actionable product feedback

  • Product team adoption of standardized pilot frameworks

  • Quality of pilot-generated insights as measured by product team feedback and roadmap influence

  • Customer conversion rates from pilot participants to paying customers post-GA
