Description
Slack’s Messaging team owns the core experience used and loved by millions daily. We’re looking for an experienced Director of Product Management to drive high-impact product strategy, execution, and innovation at the heart of the Slack experience: conversations. In this role, you’ll operate as a senior individual contributor and product leader to shape AI-powered experiences and partner with world-class UX researchers, designers, engineers, and data scientists to ship improvements that make Slack feel simpler, smarter, and far less noisy.
Responsibilities:
Define and drive the product strategy for Messaging conversations, staying grounded in real user needs and impact driven across millions of DAU.
Own end-to-end product outcomes for core Messaging surfaces, from discovery to launch and iteration.
Prototype, validate, and ship new messaging experiences that make it easier to focus, prioritize, and take action-- especially in an AI-augmented world.
Use a tight feedback loop of user research, metrics, and experimentation to inform sharp product decisions and kill ideas that don’t deliver impact.
Inspire and align executives, cross-functional partners, and adjacent product teams with clear narratives, crisp writing, and strong product judgment.
Partner closely with teams including Engineering, Design, Data Science, UX Research, and other Product Managers to move fast at scale without sacrificing quality, reliability, or trust.
Mentor other PMs on product craft, execution, and strategy, raising the bar for the broader Messaging product org.
Required Skills & Experience
8+ years of product management experience, including leading major initiatives on high-usage consumer or direct-to-customer products.
Generative AI integrated into your workflow and products — you actively use AI to improve product thinking, prototyping, and deliverables, and ideally have shipped Generative AI-powered features
Customer-obsessed and research fluent — you work with UX Research, qualitative insights, and customer feedback, and use that to place sharp, opinionated bets.
Highly data-informed — you define the right metrics, design clean experiments, partner tightly with Data Science, and use results to double down or kill ideas without sentimentality.
Excellent cross-functional leadership and communication — proven ability to partner with Engineering, Design, DS, and AI/infra teams, and to influence at the executive level.
