Role Description:

Salesforce delivers world-class events, both in-person and virtually. As a Lead Software Engineer in Event Technology, you will be building event attendee platforms aligned to our Future State Architecture. Our commitment is to provide excellence in scalability and performance while also delivering a high-end user experience. The ideal candidate for this role will possess a proven track record in software development, coupled with a strong passion for devising state-of-the-art solutions that meet the evolving needs of our users.

This job requires that you be a quick learner, and self-starter with the ability to work under pressure, meet aggressive deadlines, and handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously. You should have the ability to work in a fun, creative, and fast-paced environment. You are aware of trends and technical developments in the industry, and how those can be applied in your work, and have a point of view on the delivery approach for very complex or foundational features.

“You build it, you own it.” Our engineering teams are responsible for the ongoing maintenance of our apps. Therefore this role also requires active engagement on deployments, monitoring, incident management and response, vendor oversight, and general ongoing operations activities.

In this role, we require someone who can:

  • Enhance the scalability of web applications through the use of component-based architecture and, ensuring outstanding performance.

  • Work in a Hybrid Engineering model and contribute to all phases of SDLC including design, discovery, implementation, code reviews, automation, and testing.

  • Utilize cutting-edge technologies such as React/Next.js for frontend development, REST and GraphQL APIs for efficient data querying, and leverage the robust infrastructure of AWS Services.

  • Strategically plan, design, and execute the implementation of highly scalable solutions that meet current and future business needs.

  • Innovate and invent the future of Agile and DevOps, drive continuous improvement with a focus on process, controls, scalability, and maturity.

  • Design, develop, and execute detailed, well-structured test cases and scripts based on product requirements.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive high-coverage, high-quality unit tests.

  • Develop thorough functional, regression, and integration tests as appropriate.

  • Serve as the technical leader for the team, and collaborate with Architects and Principal Engineers in the application design process, contributing innovative ideas and technical expertise.

  • Mentor and inspire team members through code reviews and dedicated sessions, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth. You'll provide guidance and support to junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to help them thrive in their roles.

Required:

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience in designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production systems

  • Strong knowledge of web technologies such as React, Next.js, Typescript

  • Deep knowledge of API architecture and design patterns, with practical experience implementing RESTful / GraphQL, and service-oriented APIs for scalable systems and micro-services.

  • Strong understanding of API security best practices, such as OAuth, JWT, and API key management

  • Responsive Web development, HTML, CSS

  • Familiarity with a CSS framework such as Tailwind or Sass

  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming (such as Java) and scripting languages (such as NodeJs)

  • AWS services (such as AppSync, Lambda, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, etc)

  • Experience with Git version control, CI/CD pipelines (such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions), and release management practices

  • VS Code, Cursor, or similar IDE

  • Monitoring and logging using tools such as Splunk, Catchpoint, New Relic

  • Proven experience designing and developing distributed systems at scale

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineering teams, to deliver exceptional user experiences

  • Agile methodologies: Scrum and Kanban

  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, participate in code reviews and agile ceremonies, and ensure adherence to engineering best practices

  • Quick learner and independent worker

  • A related technical degree required

Desired:

  • Knowledge of Heroku platform and Add-ons (Redis, Kafka, Postgres)

  • SQL skills and experience with relational and non-relational databases (Postgres, MongoDB, etc)

  • AI-assisted development workflow

  • Experience with Salesforce CRM development (Apex, SOQL, etc), Data Cloud, Agentforce

  • Knowledge of Orchestration and Containerisation ie. Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS, AWS EKS

  • Knowledge of large language models (LLMs) and agents

  • Mobile and cross-platform/browser test automation

  • Google Analytics

  • Configuring Akamai or other similar CDN
