Role Description:
The Director, Employee Communications for Japan, Korea and Taiwan is an innovative, strategic, and marketing-minded person who's responsible for developing, managing, and executing strategic internal communications plans and memorable programs that keep employees informed and drive alignment and connection with the Salesforce culture.
This individual will serve as a communications partner for local Japan, Korea and Taiwan leadership and other key stakeholders across the business. We are looking for a brilliant writer, capable of capturing employees’ attention in both Japanese and English, with a creative and solution-oriented mindset, and the ability to build trusting relationships with key stakeholders and adapt to fast-changing priorities. This individual will serve as a leader for the Japan, Korea and Taiwan team so someone who values teamwork, is able to lead and navigate through ambiguity, and is good at nurturing others will also be key.

Responsibilities:
Employee Communications strategy: Work with Senior Director, International Corporate Communications, to oversee the development and execution of an employee communications strategy for Japan, Korea and Taiwan that drives business success, employees’ success and connection to our culture. Strategically using AI to execute this will also be important.
Executive Communications: Support the Internal Executive Communications programs for the country leaders of Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Programs include a variety of communication — Thought leadership, culture narrative, management of company wide events such as the All Regional Calls, etc.
Communications partner to business leaders: Provide strategic guidance for the extended Japan, Korea and Taiwan Leadership Team, our Human Resources (Employee Success) team and other teams such as Finance, Health and Safety, Real Estate and Workplace Services on planning and executing their respective internal communication activities.
Content creation: Curate and develop bespoke Japan, Korea and Taiwan content to profile the best of what's happening across the region within our countries and other Operating Units. Content assets include but not limited to Slack, internal videos, emails, internal event content, in-person talk tracks, and FAQs. Influence partners and stakeholders as needed to ensure communications are compelling and aligned with not only our vision and values, but also our voice and tone.
Translation strategy: Improve and execute translation strategy for the region in partnership with other functions across the company.
Support employee engagement programs and employer brand initiatives: Provide assistance with employee programs that drive the Salesforce culture and employee engagement such as local holiday campaigns or global-wide events. Also, support our employer marketing and branding programs (e.g. Great Place to Work award submissions, customer engagement programs that showcase Salesforce’s employee engagement strategies) as needed.
Regional alignment: Coordinate and track region-wide communications to ensure alignment/consistency of messaging, frequency and content strategy across leaders and teams.
Operations and reporting: Work effectively with the International Employee Comms Hub team, the International Corporate Communications team and the Global Communication organization through shared processes at all levels within the team and the broader organization. Track campaign results and work with our team and business partners to apply key learnings to future plans.
Required:
High level fluency in both Japanese and English languages is a must (reading, writing, speaking, listening).
15+ years of experience in marketing, communications or a related discipline; Experience in a high-tech or other fast-paced, disruptive global environment a plus.
A brilliant bilingual communicator and highly creative writer experienced in crafting compelling messaging and narratives and unafraid of using new technology like AI. Can generate and execute innovative ideas.
Several years of experience managing a team and ability to achieve results through teamwork. Excellent talent and organization development capability. Helps develop team members’ career paths, and experience in conducting quarterly/annual performance reviews.
Proven track record developing and executing creative, thoughtful internal communications plans.
Exposure to managing key stakeholder relationships across different cultures and working across a matrix organization to find middle ground and bring people together to achieve goals.
Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
Ability to quickly grasp information across a variety of disciplines and create clear communications.
Ability to lead, manage, and execute multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented and nimble environment across the globe.
A strategic thinker with proven ability to work cross-functionally, exerting influence without direct authority.
Proactive, charismatic, confident personality with ability to successfully drive projects with minimal guidance. Results-oriented.
Excellent budget and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and re-prioritize on the fly.
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Not opposed to a healthy dose of fun.
Desired:
Fluency in the Korean and Taiwanese Mandarin language (in addition to Japanese and English) a plus.
