Description

Salesforce is hiring a strategic, high-velocity, and politically savvy leader to lead executive communications for senior leadership on behalf of our Public Sector business. This is a unique opportunity to work in Exec Comms at the intersection of technology and government, serving as the "right hand" to leadership and driving our most visible narratives in Washington D.C. and beyond.

We are looking for a storyteller who speaks the language of both Silicon Valley and Washington D.C. — someone who can translate complex technical innovations into compelling narratives that resonate with federal leaders, policymakers, and the public sector market.

This role blends high-level strategy, policy fluency, operational excellence and a bias for action. The ideal candidate brings a deep background in D.C. public affairs, established relationships with "inside the beltway" media, and a track record of driving thought leadership for principals in the public sector or highly regulated industries. You will act as a strategic partner to executive leadership, moving beyond support to champion a vision that positions Salesforce as the critical partner in the government’s AI and digital modernization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Channel executive voice with style and precision. Serve as the primary pen for leaders across all mediums. You will ghostwrite and edit everything from major keynotes and op-eds to internal emails, Slack communications, and briefing notes, ensuring a consistent, authentic tone that requires minimal revision.

  • Provide high-touch, on-the-ground support. Travel to accompany leadership to D.C., customer summits, and media engagements. You will be the "eyes and ears" on the ground, managing last-minute script changes and ensuring the executive is prepared for every interaction.

  • Architect and drive the strategic narrative. Move beyond reactive requests to build a proactive thought leadership platform. You will anticipate the executive’s needs and identify opportunities to insert their voice into critical policy and industry conversations.

  • Manage the complete "Air Game" and "Ground Game." Balance high-level D.C. media strategy with the internal communications heartbeat that keeps the organization aligned and inspired.

  • Translate policy into persuasion. Synthesize complex government topics—AI regulation, FedRAMP, security—into compelling, human-centric stories that resonate with federal audiences and industry peers.

  • Serve as a connector and force multiplier. Work seamlessly across Product, Government Affairs, PR, Marketing, and other stakeholder teams to ensure executive time is leveraged effectively and messaging is unified.

Required Skills / Experience

  • 12+ years of experience in executive communications, public affairs, or political speechwriting.

  • Elite Ghostwriting Skills. You have a chameleon-like ability to adapt to a principal’s style. You can capture nuance, humor, and gravity in writing, and you are comfortable drafting content that sounds like a person, not a press release.

  • Deep D.C./Public Affairs background. Experience working on Capitol Hill, in Federal Agencies, or in strategic communications firms. You understand the "Beltway" dialect and media landscape.

  • High tolerance for travel and intensity. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are willing to travel frequently to support the executive in-person.

  • Agility and Intuition. You can "read the room" and anticipate the executive's needs before they are vocalized. You are comfortable making decisions in ambiguous, high-pressure situations.

  • Strong media relations chops. Active relationships with reporters in the government technology and policy space a must.
