You will be at the forefront of identifying game-changing industry trends, cultivating strategic external partnerships, and sourcing, negotiating, structuring, and executing complex, high-stakes acquisitions that directly empower our executive, product, and engineering leadership.

The Director is a critical, hands-on leader in the M&A lifecycle. You will drive M&A strategy, negotiation and structuring transactions, as well as evaluating complex build/buy/partner decisions, especially in emerging enterprise AI. You will maintain a comprehensive perspective on the technology landscape, building deep internal and external relationships to source and qualify potential targets. This role will be responsible for executing both private and public company acquisitions and strategic minority investments. This role will support all aspects of transaction evaluation and execution, including valuation perspectives, due diligence, and transaction structuring.

The position will be based in our global headquarters in San Francisco and work out of the office three days a week.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive the execution of acquisitions and minority investments, including conducting market landscapes and performing complex financial and valuation analyses.

  • Manage the entire due diligence lifecycle (pre-term sheet evaluation, detailed post-term sheet due diligence and the sign-to-close process) in close collaboration with senior deal team members, M&A Integration, and cross-functional leads.

  • Collaborate with product teams to understand product gaps, conduct build/buy/partner analyses and develop strategic investment themes and business cases for M&A and minority investments

  • Conduct market, industry and company research and analyses to influence decision making, and identify and prioritize acquisition targets and opportunities

  • Lead or support special projects and presentations for the executive management team

  • Lead the M&A pipeline, present updates and deal progress to internal stakeholders and manage Corporate Development systems and tools

  • Proactively drive the adoption and application of Salesforce AI and other data-driven tools to enhance M&A processes and create efficiency

  • Build strong connections within our industry including startups, investors, and investment bankers to build knowledge of market trends and opportunities

Professional Experience / Skills Required

  • Background

    • ~10 years of total experience and a strong educational background (MBA preferred)

    • Previous experience in Corporate Development M&A as a deal lead, investment banking, private equity, or venture capital required

    • Extensive, hands-on experience driving M&A transactions within the fast-paced software / AI sector.

  • Technical Skills

    • Expert-level proficiency in crafting detailed, operationally focused financial models and performing detailed valuation analyses; deep understanding of accounting and key operational / performance metrics.

    • A track record of effectively managing multiple complex projects simultaneously in a dynamic, high-stakes environment.

    • Intimate, end-to-end familiarity with the M&A deal process, from initial sourcing to final closing.

    • The ability to formulate and articulate complex viewpoints (written and verbal) with clarity and conviction to senior stakeholders.

    • Comfort in interacting with senior-level leaders both inside and outside the organization.
