Description
The Lead Member of Technical Staff (LMTS) is a high-level technical leader and you are a performance and scale subject matter expert who drives innovation, designs high-scale automation frameworks, and ensures product reliability. You don't just find bottlenecks—you prevent them through architectural influence, database tuning, and expert root cause analysis
Role:
Lead performance efforts for multi-team projects. Design traffic models, establish scale goals, and implement sophisticated automation and monitoring strategies.
Act as the expert in database tuning and system optimizations. Drive design meetings by questioning implementation choices and proposing performant alternatives.
Rapidly build POCs to test ideas. Lead research spikes and "fail fast" prototypes to address critical scale issues.
Partner with Product Managers to align features with customer usage patterns. Ensure performance is a core part of the Definition of Done (DoD).
The Multiplier Effect: Coach AMTS, MTS, and SMTS engineers. Lead code and design reviews, sharing deep product expertise to elevate the team’s technical bar.
Manage features from initial design through production deployment and post-release support. Own the resolution of the most complex, systemic performance issues.
Requirements:
Regular use of AI tools for automation and performance work.
A good understanding of enterprise architecture principles is strongly preferred
Experience as a developer building platforms and applications.
Experience in building automation tools.
Coding experience in Java, C, Python, Ruby on Rails and knowledge of modular design.
Deep knowledge of Java and its internals, including JVM performance tuning, GC mechanisms, and familiarity with Java Profiling (e.g., JProfiler, YourKit).
Expert-level understanding of key performance metrics associated with throughput, latency, memory, CPU, disk & network, and the ability to debug bottlenecks associated with any of them.
Familiarity with NoSQL data stores and transport systems such as Spark, Storm, Cassandra, Kafka is a plus.
Hands-on experience in open source load test tools.
Expert in profiling, instrumentation, load generation tools, and database optimization.
Proven track record in API design, concurrency, and resource efficiency for massive scale.
Strong communicator able to present technical findings to both executives and architects.
Constantly generates and validates new ideas.
Manages technical debt and provides a long-term vision for performance.
Excels at Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and complex optimization
