The Messaging Platform team, part of the Digital Marketing Technology organization, builds the critical platforms our internal marketers use to engage with customers. We are responsible for the core tooling that powers communications across channels, integrating deeply with the Salesforce Platform, Data Cloud, and Marketing Cloud Next. This team is at the forefront of this mission, responsible for building the next generation of intelligent AI agents on Agentforce to drive massive productivity gains and unlock new marketing capabilities.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead our team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading, mentoring, and growing a team of skilled engineers dedicated to building our next generation platform, utilizing Agentforce and Salesforce platform. You will own the team's technical roadmap and delivery, focusing on the intersection of the Salesforce Platform, Data Cloud, and AI, RAG, and LLM technologies.
We are looking for a leader who can partner effectively with Product Management to drive strategy and vision, while also ensuring the team maintains a high bar for technical excellence. You will champion a quality-first mentality and guide your team in building the scalable, reliable, and performant systems that will power the future of our marketing tools, enabling more relevant customer communications with less effort.
Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of software engineers, supporting their career growth, performance, and development.
Own the end-to-end delivery and operational health of Agents on the Agentforce platform, additionally services built on the Salesforce Platform and integrated systems.
Partner closely with Product Management, architects, and other stakeholders to define the team's vision, strategy, and roadmap; teach the team to always ask questions and understand the "Why" behind their work.
Drive the technical design and architecture for highly scalable, reliable, and maintainable AI agent & salesforce platform systems.
Foster a culture of engineering excellence, championing a quality-first approach, robust testing, CI/CD, and operational rigor.
Instill a constant drive for learning and curiosity to keep the team at the forefront of our technology and the AI domain.
Collaborate with other engineering leaders to ensure seamless integration and alignment across the Salesforce ecosystem (Platform, Data Cloud, Marketing Cloud Next).
Manage agile development processes, remove roadblocks, and ensure timely, high-quality execution of team goals.
Hire and retain top-tier engineering talent.
Required Skills and Experience
6+ years of professional software development experience, with a significant background in distributed systems or platform engineering.
3+ years of experience in an engineering management role, with a proven track record of mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
Strong technical acumen and experience guiding teams through the design and development of complex, scalable, and reliable services.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to partner effectively with product management, architects, and senior leadership.
Experience managing the full software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
A deep understanding of, or strong demonstrated passion for, the AI/LLM space and its practical applications.
Hands-on experience with Salesforce Platform development (Apex, LWC, Flow)
Desired Skills and Experience
Direct experience leading teams working in the AI/ML, RAG, or LLM domain.
Hands-on experience with Data Cloud.
Experience in the Marketing Technology or Marketing Messaging (Email/SMS) space.
In office expectations are 10 days/a quarter to support customers and/or collaborate with their teams.
