Description

The Global Incentive Compensation (GIC) team at Salesforce is a global leader for sales compensation in the technology industry. We manage the sales compensation for all Salesforce end to end - from designing the sales compensation plan to enable the company’s go-to-market strategy to administering the payment so that our sales teams get paid on time.

The GIC Analytics team’s charter is to leverage data to help GIC make better decisions and run more smoothly. We are seeking a rigorous and detail-oriented Analyst/Sr. Analyst to serve as the "Gatekeeper" of our compensation outcome. In this critical governance role, you will act as the final line of defense, ensuring incentive accuracy and financial integrity. You will partner closely with Accounting to certify accruals and payments, execute robust Management Review SOX Controls, and ensure our processes stand up to the highest standards of audit readiness. You will not just report the numbers; you will validate, explain, and help certify them.

Responsibilities

Validation & Accuracy

  • Certification: Support the final sign-off on monthly accruals and incentive payment reviews.

  • Variance Analysis (Flux): Perform monthly flux analysis to explain variances between accruals, payments, and historical trends. You won't just report the difference; you will dig into the data to find the "why" (e.g., plan changes, deal spikes, outliers).

  • Outlier Detection: Review large datasets to identify illogical payouts or errors. Challenge the "status quo" numbers to ensure financial integrity.

SOX Governance & Risk Management

  • Control Ownership: Own the Management Review Controls (MRC) for the compensation process. Ensure all documentation, sign-offs, and evidence are perfectly organized and "audit-ready" every month.

  • Audit Interface: Serve as the primary liaison for Internal and External Auditors during quarterly reviews and year-end testing. You will manage the walkthroughs and evidence requests, ensuring a smooth audit process.

Partnership & Operational Excellence

  • Accounting Partnership: Act as the translator between the GIC team and the Accounting department, converting complex sales comp logic into clear financial explanations.

  • Process Optimization: Move beyond manual checking. Identify areas where risks exist in our manual processes and partner across teams to build automated "check-sums" and preventative controls.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in External Audit (Big 4 preferred), Internal Audit, or Finance/Accounting with a heavy focus on controls.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • The "Auditor" Mindset: Demonstrated experience performing substantive testing, variance analysis, and documenting controls. You understand the difference between a "process" and a "control."

  • Excel Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, complex logic formulas) are mandatory. You must be comfortable navigating massive spreadsheets with precision.

  • Communication: Ability to push back when numbers don't look right and defend your findings to leadership and accounting stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • US GAAP & SOX: Experience auditing US-listed public companies (PCAOB standards) and strong familiarity with SOX 404 requirements.

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) active or in-progress.

  • Big 4 Experience: Experience at the "Senior" level in Assurance/Audit practices.

  • SQL Exposure: Basic knowledge of SQL or a strong willingness to learn data querying to improve independence from manual reports.

  • Experience testing or auditing Sales Compensation or Payroll cycles.
