Salesforce's Critical Incident Center (CIC) is building an innovative security function to protect our valued customers via comprehensive incident response and actionable, proactive engagement. As Senior Director of the Strategic Security Engagement (SSE) function, you will closely partner with the Salesforce CISO organization and lead a global security engagement effort for CIC that’s responsible for proactively partnering with Salesforce’s valued customers to strengthen their security posture, prevent security incidents, and build trusted CISO-level relationships. This leader will establish and scale a dedicated security engagement capability within the CIC that ensures enterprise customers can securely leverage Salesforce technologies. The role focuses on proactive security health, reactive incident management and communications, and executive-level security readiness across the Salesforce customer base.

In addition to the collaboration with the Salesforce CISO organization, the CIC Senior Director will partner closely with the Technology & Product division, Sales, and the Customer Success and Cloud Success teams to help drive security feature adoption, improve customer security maturity, and reduce security-related escalations that impact customer trust and revenue.This role requires a strategic security leader with strong operational discipline, deep enterprise security expertise, and the ability to engage directly with customer CISOs and executive stakeholders. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role, which reports directly to the Senior Vice President of the CIC, and will help coordinate the cross-functional efforts within Salesforce to help drive effective security engagements that lead to increased customer trust and success.

What You'll Do

  • Build and lead a new, dedicated CIC security function that complements ongoing, cross-functional security initiatives and improves customer engagement
  • Work closely with the Salesforce CISO organization to partner on security incident responses and proactive customer engagements
  • Establish and scale the Strategic Security Engagement function as a proactive security advisory capability within CIC
  • Lead initiatives that strengthen Salesforce’s position as a trusted security partner for enterprise customers, working in conjunction with key cross-functional stakeholders
  • Develop a security readiness framework to help customers adopt Salesforce products and best practices across all phases of the customer lifecycle (onboarding, adoption and post go-live).
  • Provide actionable insights to product and engineering teams on security features, customer risks, and adoption barriers, leveraging Cloud Success product feedback motion.
  • Drive increased adoption of Salesforce security capabilities, including encryption, monitoring, and governance features
  • Partner with Sales and Customer Success teams to position security capabilities effectively during customer engagements
  • Serve as the central point of coordination for customer security engagement across the Technology & Product division (including CISO), Sales, and the Customer Success and Cloud Success teams
  • Develop security playbooks, enablement materials, and training programs that target the Customer Success and Sales organizations
  • Establish measurable outcomes related to customer security experience and adoption, incident prevention and retros, as well as attrition avoidance, reporting monthly KPIs to CIC leadership
  • Develop repeatable engagement frameworks, playbooks, and metrics that scale globally

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise security, with a strong background in security architecture, governance, risk, and compliance, with deep knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks (GDPR, NIS2, DORA, CCPA, HIPAA) and data protection standards
  • Demonstrated experience engaging at the CISO/CIO level, building trusted advisor relationships with enterprise security leaders
  • Experience with Salesforce security capabilities preferred — Shield, Platform Encryption, Event Monitoring, Security Center, and/or Data Cloud
  • Proven track record building and scaling customer-facing security programs in a SaaS or cloud environment
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills and executive presence, with the ability to influence across technical, business, and executive stakeholders
  • Experience driving security feature adoption and translating complex technical security requirements into business outcomes
  • Passion for AI and emerging technologies, with a commitment to champion AI-enabled tools and automation that enhance security analysis and customer insights
