Overview of the Role:

Salesforce has moved into the era of billions of transactions per day, and pushing the limits of our performance and scalability has never been more important.

The Salesforce Sales Cloud engineering team is seeking an outstanding engineer to ensure Salesforce can sustain the tremendous growth we have seen in our transactions and data volumes along with Agentforce AI capabilities. Are you an application and/or database expert, passionate about exploring AI capabilities for optimizing our applications and database technology to support this staggering growth and innovation?

Join the teams that have delivered game changing technology to support the performance and scalability of Sales Cloud products and applications. You will need deep experience with application/database internals, proficiency in solving real-world data management challenges in high scale systems, and proven ability to design, develop, and optimize the critical data processing systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive performance and scalability initiatives for Salesforce Sales Cloud applications and databases, ensuring systems can sustain billions of transactions per day and rapidly growing data volumes
  • Design, develop, and optimize critical data processing systems, including query optimization on Oracle and other relational databases, schema design, and PL/SQL/SQL development
  • Profile, analyze, and resolve performance bottlenecks across the full stack, including Java/C++ application internals, JavaScript/CSS front-end performance, and memory leak detection and remediation
  • Build and maintain UI automation frameworks using Selenium WebDriver, and contribute to performance testing infrastructure on cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), with emphasis on multi-tenant architecture considerations
  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering teams to establish performance engineering best practices, define key metrics, and lead design improvement initiatives that deliver measurable scalability gains
  • Conduct deep-dive performance analysis and communicate findings, recommendations, and architectural improvements clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Build and ship high-quality, production-grade software using modern engineering practices, with AI as a core part of your development workflow by pushing the boundaries of AI development tools to deliver secure, optimized, and high-quality code.
  • Design and orchestrate complex systems where AI agents integrate seamlessly into human workflows, driving efficiency and innovation at scale.
  • Contribute to building and maintaining the shared system context, an explicit repository of system designs, constraints, and standards that enables AI to operate accurately and reliably.
  • Critically evaluate code (Human or AI-generated) for correctness, quality, security, and performance

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of development experience, with at least 5+ years of experience in optimizing large scale applications and databases.

  • Strong knowledge of structured and unstructured database fundamentals, design, architecture, performance and scalability

  • A mastery of a programming languages (e.g. Java, C++) and strong Object-Oriented programming skills with focus on optimizations, design patterns and best practices for performance and scalability.

  • Strong knowledge and experience with optimizing queries on Oracle or similar relational databases

  • Familiar with generative-AI technologies and agentic frameworks

  • Development experience with PL/SQL, SQL, Oracle, or other database technologies

  • Strong understanding of schema design and SQL development

  • Strong experience with IAAS (AWS or GCP). Major points for familiarity with multi-tenant architecture.

  • A proven track record of optimization and design improvements for performance and scalability.

  • Hands-on experience with JavaScript ,CSS, JS frameworks and Browser Internals

  • Experience performance profiling and optimizing JavaScript & CSS and also detecting and fixing JavaScript memory leaks.

  • Expertise with Selenium webdriver for UI automation

  • Outstanding attention to detail and strong communication skills

  • A demonstrated, genuine AI-first approach to engineering. Using AI to move faster, build fluency across the stack, and contribute well beyond your core specialty.

  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, Cursor, etc.) in development workflows

  • Advanced prompt engineering skills and the ability to write precise, structured prompts and cultivate the system context that makes AI outputs reliable, secure, and production-ready.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and knowledge of structured and unstructured databases.

  • Java feature development experience

  • Experience developing frameworks and tools for performance measurement and analysis. You will need this ability to validate your optimizations.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the linux operating system, especially process and system monitoring facilities

  • Experience building SaaS applications

  • Experience leading and driving production escalations: monitoring, remediation, patch delivery, root-cause-analysis

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and experimental design techniques

  • Experience with agile and test-driven-development techniques

  • In-depth and clear understanding of performance engineering concepts, methodologies, tools, metrics and analysis.
