Description

As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) in the TOPS (Trust, Ops, Performance, Scalability) team, you will be responsible for overseeing and executing the operational framework for cloud infrastructure, performance engineering, and scalability programs across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and the broader Salesforce platform. Your role involves orchestrating and driving the implementation of strategic initiatives such as Hyperforce (AWS/GCP) deployments, performance optimization programs, and cross-cloud technical programs. Collaborating closely with product and engineering leaders, you'll manage programs and releases that directly impact customer trust, platform reliability, and system scalability. Effective communication with the Executive Leadership team and various stakeholders is essential. You'll display professionalism, independent judgment, and ownership of risk management and decision-making.

Your Impact

  • Execute the established operating model, ensuring consensus on program scope, release planning, vision, and business objectives. Structure programs and garner cross-functional support across infrastructure, platform, and product engineering teams.

  • Lead program core team meetings, engaging key stakeholders to make critical decisions, overcome obstacles, and address program-related challenges. Drive the achievement of business goals and the realization of strategic program vision for cloud infrastructure and performance engineering initiatives.

  • Foster strong partnerships with vital functional stakeholders, centering on business objectives. Act as a reliable partner and advisor to senior leadership (VPs and Directors), ensuring program success across Trust, Ops, Performance, and Scalability domains.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to facilitate alignment on cloud migrations (Hyperforce), performance testing, scalability improvements, addressing immediate release issues, dependencies, team status, production concerns, observability/telemetry, and milestones.

  • Maintain ongoing visibility into program status, offering consistent status updates on issues, risks, metrics, KPIs, and performance indicators to stakeholders, team members, and interested parties. Define and instrument telemetry to close the loop on program outcomes.

  • Manage dependencies among programs and features across multiple teams, functions, and stakeholders spanning Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Infrastructure, and Platform engineering orgs, ensuring seamless coordination.

  • Proactively identify and eliminate impediments with a strong sense of urgency that hinder project teams from meeting project objectives. Surface systemic and tactical challenges and suggest positive change.

  • Deliver weekly program reviews to the leadership team and oversee release demos and evaluations, delving into project status, risks, escalations, and performance/scalability metrics.

  • Cultivate a collaborative atmosphere that nurtures innovation, creativity, continuous learning, and AI-native workflows. Embrace a mindset open to new ideas and leverage AI/automation tools to enhance program execution.

  • Serve as a catalyst within the organization, driving the advancement of global Product & Technology strategy, inspiring organizational change, and championing operational excellence in cloud infrastructure and performance engineering.

  • Work mostly independently on sub-cloud/program initiatives with senior TPM oversight and adapting dynamically to changing priorities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Possess a minimum of 10+ years of recent professional experience in leading extensive enterprise programs, with preference for cloud infrastructure, performance engineering, or platform scalability programs.

  • Demonstrate hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure programs preferably on large-scale cloud migration/deployment initiatives.

  • Exhibit an infrastructure TPM archetype: deep understanding of distributed systems, multi-tenant architectures, performance bottlenecks, scalability patterns, and technical trade-offs.

  • Showcase strong aptitude in executive communication and presentation skills, with credibility when working with VPs and senior engineering leaders.

  • Display AI-native mindset: actively uses AI tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) for program execution, documentation, analysis, and automation. Comfortable exploring AI/Agentforce-driven workflows.

  • Demonstrate data fluency: can pull own queries, define KPIs, instrument telemetry, build dashboards, and close the loop with data-driven insights. Does not rely solely on others for data collection.

  • Exhibit excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, underscored by a history of hands-on, detail-focused work in technically complex domains.

  • Display profound familiarity with the software development lifecycle, CI/CD pipelines, feature flags, multi-substrate deployments, and performance/regression testing strategies, adeptly adapting and applying this knowledge in a dynamic environment using agile methodologies.

  • Establish credibility and rapport with senior executives, technical experts, and non-technical team members alike. Comfortable influencing without authority at both process and tactical levels.

  • Excel in organizational, communication, and relationship-building competencies, thriving in a cross-functional, matrix management setup spanning multiple orgs and geographies.

  • Demonstrate strong cross-team delivery experience: successfully coordinated programs across multiple teams, orgs, and functions with competing priorities.

  • Delve into technical subjects relevant to the program, displaying a grasp of technical intricacies such as performance engineering principles, observability, distributed tracing, and cloud infrastructure architecture.

  • Collaborate effectively within an integrated team comprising technical and non-technical members, with a deep understanding of the product area from end user and admin perspectives.

  • Successfully collaborate with functions across the company and various time zones, showcasing robust time management, analytical, and planning proficiencies.

  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, related disciplines, or possess equivalent experience in technical leadership roles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Salesforce Hyperforce, multi-cloud deployments (AWS/GCP), or large-scale SaaS platform migrations.

  • Background in performance engineering: load testing, performance regression analysis, bottleneck identification, optimization strategies.

  • Experience managing programs under ambiguity with shifting priorities, providing recommendations to leadership on prioritization.

  • Active contributor to TPM community: onboarding, recruiting, knowledge sharing, mentoring.
