Description
About the role:
We're looking for a Product Manager, Billing & Operations to lead the strategic design and day-to-day operational execution of our business engine. In this role, you will scale MuleSoft's billing systems by overseeing consumption metering, licensing, and automated service provisioning. You will also drive the operational capabilities needed to bring new projects to market via SKU creation. You will act as a critical bridge between product and go-to-market teams, owning both the underlying platform infrastructure and the hands-on deal support required to execute standard and complex commercial agreements at scale.
A demonstrated, genuine AI-first approach to product management is central to this role — using AI to move faster, build fluency across the product lifecycle, and contribute well beyond traditional PM scope.

You will also drive the operational capabilities needed to bring new projects to market via SKU creation. A demonstrated, genuine AI-first approach to product management is central to this role — using AI to move faster, build fluency across the product lifecycle, and contribute well beyond traditional PM scope.
What You'll Do
Platform Strategy & Core Architecture
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Finance to define the roadmap for our billing, invoicing, and automated provisioning systems.
- Drive end-to-end technical logic connecting sales contracts to automated service activation, downstream usage tracking, and accurate billing cycles.
- Own and drive the roadmap that improves usage transparency for customers, entitlement transparency across all pricing models, value-based reporting that goes beyond cost, and modernization of the provisioning architecture.
- Translate complex subscription and usage-based models into robust system requirements for entitlement management and metered tracking across internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct benchmark research on modern billing architectures and provisioning mechanisms to future-proof the platform against evolving product lines.
Deal Support & Fulfillment Operations
- Provide active deal support by acting as the technical expert for complex or non-standard go-to-market and operational scenarios during the sales cycle.
- Drive the end-to-end New Product Introduction (NPI) process from a commercial readiness and fulfillment perspective, ensuring zero-friction SKU enablement.
- Own high-sensitivity billing operations, including billing exceptions and adjustments, credit and refund approvals in partnership with Finance, and support for field teams on customer billing inquiries.
Data, Tools & Insights
- Build and maintain platform visibility tools that leverage AI-driven forecasting and anomaly detection to identify provisioning failures or billing discrepancies.
- Collaborate with data engineering to ensure highly accurate, real-time usage metrics pass cleanly from the product architecture to the financial reporting systems.
AI-First Product Management
- Define and deliver high-quality, production-ready product strategies and roadmaps using modern PM practices, with AI as a core part of your workflow — pushing the boundaries of AI-powered tools to drive smarter prioritization, faster discovery, and better outcomes.
- Design and orchestrate complex product workflows where AI agents integrate seamlessly into cross-functional team operations, driving efficiency and innovation at scale.
- Contribute to building and maintaining shared product context — an explicit repository of product principles, constraints, user insights, and standards that enables AI to generate accurate, reliable, and actionable recommendations.
- Critically evaluate AI-generated outputs (e.g., user research summaries, PRDs, roadmap suggestions) for correctness, quality, alignment with business goals, and user impact.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years in product management, technical product operations, or systems architecture roles, preferably focused on billing infrastructure or backend platform engines in tech/SaaS.
- Strong technical architecture understanding; familiarity with complex relational databases, API-driven workflows, and SQL or BI tools.
- Proficiency in leveraging Generative AI tools to accelerate system documentation, draft technical specifications, and automate routine configuration testing.
- Proven ability to collaborate with deep engineering teams while simultaneously managing non-technical business stakeholders.
- Deep familiarity with backend monetization systems, entitlement mapping, and enterprise operational infrastructure (e.g., Salesforce CPQ).
- Strategic thinker with a strong technical foundation and a bias for automated system workflows.
- An early adopter of AI technology who proactively finds ways to use automation to increase the reliability and efficiency of the Billing & Provisioning ecosystem.
- Direct experience handling the operational logic of automated provisioning for tier-based subscription or usage-based architectures.
Why Join Us
- High-impact role with visibility across product engineering, Finance, and executive leadership.
- Fast-paced environment with room for architectural innovation and system ownership.
- A supportive team culture built around transparency, collaboration, and growth.
