Role Overview
The Workday Reporting Senior Analyst is a senior lead within the ES Data Operations team, based in Hyderabad. This role is critical for providing strategic, timely, and actionable data insights to stakeholders, business leaders and CoEs across the organization. Serving as the subject matter expert on all facets of Workday reporting, the Senior Analyst manages the full lifecycle of complex reporting requests—from requirement gathering, strategic consultation, and data architecture analysis to building, delivering, and governing reports. Beyond technical execution, this role drives process automation and reporting enhancements, provides consultative guidance on data strategy, enforces strict data privacy and compliance policies, and consistently adheres to team KPIs and SLAs to deliver a seamless, high-touch employee data experience.

The responsibilities of the Workday Reporting Senior Analyst include but are not limited to the following:
* Advanced Design and Development: Architect, build, test, and deploy complex Workday Custom Reports across all report types—including Advanced, Matrix, Composite, BIRT (Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools) tailored to strategic enterprise requirements.
* Calculated Fields Architecture: Design and troubleshoot highly complex Workday Calculated Fields and logic to power advanced analytics, multi-level reporting, and cross-functional metrics.
* Process Automation & Continuous Enhancement: Proactively identify opportunities to automate reporting workflows, optimize query execution, streamline distribution channels, and enhance overall data architecture to reduce manual overhead and improve operational scalability.
* Stakeholder Consultancy: Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders. Translate ambiguous business questions into data solutions, offering strategic guidance on what data to report, how to interpret metrics, and how to leverage insights for decision-making.
* End-to-End Delivery & SLA Compliance: Oversee the complete reporting lifecycle from intake to delivery. Ensure strict adherence to service level agreements (SLAs), operational key performance indicators (KPIs), and queue management standards.
* Data Privacy, Governance & Compliance: Safeguard sensitive employee data by ensuring strict compliance with global data privacy regulations, data sharing nuances, and internal enterprise security policies. Advise stakeholders on appropriate data exposure and access boundaries.
* Report & Release Management: Proactively maintain and optimize existing reports. Own the evaluation, testing, and continuous alignment of reports during Workday's bi-annual feature releases and system updates.
* Complex Data & Root-Cause Analysis: Conduct deep-dive analysis on multi-dimensional HR datasets to uncover hidden trends, perform root-cause analyses on data anomalies, and ensure high-level data accuracy before delivery.
* Troubleshooting & Performance Tuning: Act as an escalation point for resolving complex report performance bottlenecks, access issues, and data discrepancies within the Workday reporting and security framework.
* Process Leadership & Mentorship: Lead team-wide reporting optimization initiatives, promote best practices in report design, and provide functional guidance and technical mentorship to junior team members.
* Comprehensive Documentation: Maintain clear, audit-ready process documentation for complex reports, automation workflows, data definitions, and governance protocols.
Required Skills and Experience
* 5+ years of professional experience in HR Data Operations, Business Intelligence, or Analytics, with at least 3+ years specializing directly in advanced Workday Reporting.
* Workday Reporting Expertise (Critical):
* Mastery across all Workday report types (Advanced, Matrix, Composite, BIRT, etc).
* Advanced capability in designing, nesting, and optimizing complex Workday Calculated Fields.
* Deep understanding of Workday Business Objects, Data Sources, and domain relationships across Workday HCM, Absence, Compensation, Talent, Payroll, Benefits, and Recruiting.
* Knowledge of Workday Security Groups and domain security policies as they relate to data privacy and report visibility.
* Stakeholder Management & Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a proven track record of effectively consulting with and influencing Stakeholders and non-technical business partners.
* Automation & Process Improvement: Strong track record of automating manual reporting processes, optimizing complex reports for speed and scalability, and driving operational efficiency.
* Data Governance & Privacy: Expert understanding of data governance principles, strict data confidentiality, global data privacy laws, and compliance frameworks governing enterprise employee data.
* Advanced Analytics & Tools: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, macros, dynamic dashboards) and experience working with enterprise data visualization or BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
* Operational Discipline: Strong operational background with demonstrated experience managing ticket queues, balancing dynamic priorities, and consistently hitting tight SLAs/KPIs in a high-volume environment.
* High attention to detail, strong business acumen, and a solutions-oriented, consultative mindset.

* Formal Workday Reporting Certification (e.g., Workday Pro - Reporting, Workday Pro - HCM, or equivalent).
