  • This is a Sr. Engineering role in the Enterprise Change Management Platform in India.

  • This team is primarily focused on ensuring that Atlassian cloud products such as Jira, Confluence, JSM, etc have high scale, highly reliable data movement capabilities. This platform not only helps our customers get one time data migration (from on-premise to cloud either from server, data center or competition such as asana) or on-going routine admin tasks (sandbox data clone, cloud to cloud data transformation, backup-restore)

  • The team works on:

    • Platform capabilities to power customer-facing solutions/ experiences such as migration assitants (JCMA, CCMA), App Migrations, Routine Admin tasks (sandbox data clone, cloud to cloud data transformation, backup-restore)

    • Compliance initiatives across platform and product stacks ranging from cloud infrastructure to product experiences

    • Collaborating with Core Engineering, products and platform teams on high scale and high reliability transformative architecture viz. Kafka & Kafka Stream adoption.

    • Collaborating across teams to ensure adoption of world class engineering and operational practices.

    • Work across cloud platform and infrastructure services and provide a great developer experience for both our in house developers and 3rd party app developers

    • Collaboration/ Partnership across the Enterprise group and various Platform teams company to deliver key architecture outcomes for strategic programs

    • Be a change agent in bringing in industry standards in boosting velocity and engineering best practices

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will work closely with our design and product management as well as architecture teams to influence the direction of the product and plan the steps to get there. You'll be responsible for building effective teams, empowering them to achieve their goals, and putting those goals into broader context. Your greatest responsibility will be looking after the individuals reporting to you – coaching and supporting them in their professional development, unlocking their potential, and challenging them to step outside their comfort zone to grow and excel. As a hands on engineering leader, you will also contribute to the engineering and operational practices and bring in a continuous improvement mindset.

Team Scope

As a senior engineering manager, you will bring in your rich technical and leadership experience in driving a team of 2-3 scrum teams. The overall span of the team would be 12-20 and would be the front line manager role, to start with. As a senior leader, you will work closely with multiple principal engineers, mentor and coach engineers. You will not only drive impactful business outcomes, but also take part actively in driving the technical architecture. As a seasoned leader, you will bring in world class engineering excellence and operational excellence. You’ll also thrive in a challenging and growing business environment that has ambiguity, multiple global dependency footprint and diverse stakeholders.

On their first day, we'll expect the candidates to have:

  • Significant experience with building large-scale web software

  • Experience in leading large development teams directly

  • Experience in developing platforms and products in a SaaS world, preferably on AWS

  • Strong technical experience and a passion for getting involved in the details

  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies

  • Ability to drive technical excellence, pushing innovation, quality and operational excellence

  • Strong organisation and communication skills

  • Driving clarity from single line requirements and providing direction in an ambiguous environments

  • A track record of strong execution and delivering results

  • Managing frontline engineering managers and architects
