We are looking for a talented and passionate Employment counsel for the EMEA region to join our growing legal team. We have approximately 1,200 employees across six locations in EMEA and are growing fast. Role and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Employment Director EMEA, you will primarily handle a diverse and challenging set of employment matters in support of the company’s workforce in EMEA. Our EMEA footprint is expanding and our workforce is located in several locations throughout EMEA, including the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Poland and Turkey. You will closely partner with the People Team (including HR Business Partners, Employee Relations Partners, Talent and Talent Acquisition, Compensation, Benefits, and Mobility teams), you will provide guidance on all facets of employment and labor law, play a crucial role in ensuring multi-jurisdictional compliance, and perform a variety of other legal duties as needed.
The ideal candidate will have a high level of integrity, attention to detail and excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide timely day-to-day legal advice and counsel to the People Team, Senior Managers, and other areas of the business on a variety of employment topics, such as employment agreements, re-organisations, underperformance, compensation & benefits, working time issues, works council and employee representatives, employment termination, investigations and disciplinary matters, recruitment, leave queries, global mobility issues, and diversity and inclusiveness.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with a broad range of cross-functional stakeholders to ensure compliance with employment laws across the EMEA jurisdictions.
Draft, harmonise, review and implement employment-related templates, including employment agreements, addenda, separation agreements, performance reviews, performance management documents, and employment policies.
Proactively identify employment law or similar (e.g., immigration, benefit, etc.) compliance risk areas and implement policies and procedures to minimise risk.
Stay informed on employment law developments and evolving best practices and provide training and updates to the People Team and managers as needed.
Manage litigation and claims and collaboration with external counsels
Work on other legal projects in EMEA as needed.
Personal and Professional Qualifications:
A Masters Degree in Law.
4+ years of relevant employment law experience in any of the EMEA locations as a qualified lawyer in private practice or as an in-house counsel providing multi-jurisdictional advice (In-house experience is not required but is preferred).
Broad legal knowledge of employment laws of countries in EMEA with experience in providing sound advice and practical applications of the law.
Strong work ethic and ability to produce high quality work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.
Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communications skills, with a demonstrated record of cross-functional collaboration, being a team player, and forming strong working relationships with stakeholders.
Excellent analytical skills with ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical advice.
Fluency in English both verbally and written is required. Fluency in German, French or Polish is a plus.
Must be detail oriented and highly organised.
Ability to manage and handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest levels of integrity, ethical standards, discretion, and sound judgment.
