Job Description
We are seeking a Servicing & Collections Specialist to enhance our collections operations within a fast-growing commercial lending, leasing and fintech environment. The Servicing & Collections Specialist is responsible for handling a portfolio of equipment finance leases/loans and working capital accounts. The role ensures timely servicing, payment integrity, and proactive collection efforts to minimize delinquency and loss exposure. The position requires strong customer relationship management, financial acumen, and the ability to balance risk mitigation with customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle day-to-day servicing activities for equipment finance and working capital loan portfolios
- Process billing, payment application, account adjustments, and payoff requests
- Monitor account status, ensuring accurate system records and documentation
- Respond to customer inquiries related to account balances, payment terms, and contract details
- Coordinate with internal partners (sales, underwriting, legal, operations) to resolve account issues
- Proactively monitor delinquency and aging reports to identify risk in assigned portfolio
- Execute collection strategies across early-, mid-, and late-stage delinquencies
- Contact customers via phone, email, and written communication to secure payment or negotiate repayment plans
- Analyze financial situations to recommend appropriate workout solutions (deferrals, restructures, settlements where applicable)
- Manage recovery actions, including repossession or legal referral, and remarketing and resale of equipment
- Identify trends in customer payment behavior and flag emerging credit risks
- Maintain compliance with company policies, regulatory guidelines, and audit standards
- Document all collection and servicing actions thoroughly and accurately
- Support portfolio reviews and risk reporting with insights and data analysis
- Act as a key point of contact for customers throughout the lifecycle of their financing
- Deliver a professional and solutions-oriented customer experience while maintaining firm collection discipline
- Collaborate with sales teams to preserve client relationships while addressing delinquency
- Identify opportunities to improve servicing workflows and collection effectiveness
- Participate in system enhancements, testing, and operational initiatives
- Support training and mentoring of junior team members, as applicable
Requirements
Qualifications
- 3-6 years of experience in servicing, collections or portfolio management with knowledge of UCC filings, collateral management, and recovery processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organization skills and ability to multi-task.
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze trends, identify issues, and implement solutions.
- Proficiency in servicing or loan management systems and Microsoft products.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment.
