The Role

We are looking for a Junior ETL Developer to join our team in Germany. You will sit at the intersection of technology and finance, helping to bridge the gap between complex data sources and actionable financial insights. You will work closely with customers to understand their data needs and translate them into efficient extraction scripts. This is an ideal position for a recent graduate or someone early in their career who is eager to master the fundamentals of data engineering within the financial sector.
What you'll do
- Develop ETL Apps: Write and maintain ETL apps based on Java and SQL with our internal ETL Script Designer.
- Manage Data Extractions: Utilize SQL to perform efficient data extractions from various client databases and systems.
- Customer Interaction: Act as a technical point of contact for customers, attending meetings and handling email communications regarding their data integration needs.
- Project Documentation: Maintain clear records of scripts and processes to ensure long-term stability for our 10+ year legacy projects.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with the Lead ETL Developer to align on project requirements and technical standards.
- Continuous Learning: Proactively learn financial accounting basics to better understand the business logic behind the data you move.
What you bring to the table
- Technical Education: A degree in Business Information Management, Business Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Java Fundamentals: A solid basic understanding of Java code; you should be comfortable developing in "plain" Java environments.
- SQL Proficiency: Ability to write basic SQL queries and an understanding of how to join tables and extract data.
- Linguistic Skills: Native or near-native fluency in German is essential for customer contact, complemented by professional English proficiency.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication skills and a willingness to manage follow-ups and project timelines with customers.
- Financial Curiosity: While not required, an interest in or basic knowledge of financial accounting is a significant advantage.
- Experience (Plus): Previous experience in first-level support or technical internships is highly valued.
