The Role

The Senior Infrastructure Administrator serves as the primary network and firewall specialist within the Infrastructure Team, owning the security, availability, and strategic evolution of Lucanet's network architecture, firewall, and Zscaler environments. This role drives long-term infrastructure strategy while contributing broadly across product and continuous improvement work as a senior individual contributor.

As a Senior Infrastructure Administrator, you will act as a versatile generalist who also possesses deep, specialised expertise in network topics. While you will be the definitive owner of the network and firewall infrastructure, approximately 80% of your time will be dedicated to broader product and continuous improvement work. This includes managing Microsoft technologies, automating processes, overseeing cloud servers, and implementing robust security measures. The remaining 20% of your day-to-day will involve resolving escalated tickets, which often take the form of mini-projects such as enabling new business applications, resolving complex network blocks, or configuring specialized customer environments via Zscaler.

What you'll do

  • Administer and maintain network, firewall, and Zscaler environments using deep specialist knowledge to ensure persistent security and operational uptime across the enterprise.
  • Manage Microsoft technologies, cloud server infrastructure, and security patch cycles to deliver a consistently hardened and up-to-date infrastructure posture.
  • Leverage AI and automation tooling to eliminate repetitive manual administration tasks and accelerate infrastructure operations across the team.
  • Drive long-term infrastructure strategy by owning the multi-year roadmap for network and firewall modernization, including Lucanet's Berlin data centre and cloud environments.
  • Proactively monitor system health to detect and remediate emerging risks before they escalate into organization-wide outages or security incidents.
  • Act as the definitive subject matter expert for network and firewall topics, providing guidance and recommendations that shape infrastructure decisions across Lucanet.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, security, and operations teams to align infrastructure changes with broader business objectives and sprint delivery goals.

What you bring to the table

  • Extensive background in a senior infrastructure role, demonstrating strong generalist capability alongside deep specialization in network and firewall administration.
  • Expert/Senior -level proficiency in Zscaler administration, enterprise-grade firewall management, and complex network architecture design and operation.
  • Advanced competence in Microsoft technologies, AWS cloud server administration, and rapid deployment of critical security patches.
  • Proven ability to manage physical data centre hardware and respond promptly to on-site emergencies, including hardware failures.
  • Strong crisis management skills with demonstrated composure and effectiveness during high-stakes network outages or security incidents.
  • Experienced working within an agile sprint framework, consistently achieving high planned task completion rates across two-week cycles.
  • Proficiency with AI tools and automation platforms, applying them to reduce manual overhead and streamline infrastructure workflows.
  • Fluency in English required; German language skills advantageous.
  • Openness to participation in optional on-call weekend rotations desirable.
