The Cloudera Customer Applications and Technologies (CAT) team is looking for an energetic, focused & driven Lead Backend Engineer to be a key contributor to the architecture, systems, technologies and features delivered for Cloudera’s customer facing applications and tooling.

For this role, we are looking for an individual with DevOps experience as well as backend experience. DevOps for this role will not be a full-time responsibility, but will be a crucial element to ensure the most secure, most reliable, and highest quality deliverables are provided to our customers. This role will contribute directly to the customer-facing tools and applications that help Cloudera’s customers have the most fulfilling user experience through service-based programming.

As a Lead Backend Engineer, you will:

  • Design, implement, and maintain cutting edge cloud infrastructure to host and manage our Applications.

  • Establish well managed DevSecOps strategy and work closely with Release Engineering, SRE and InfoSec teams to setup & maintain deployment pipelines

  • Ownership of Application architectures, designs, implementations and deployments

  • Develop and maintain backend services written in Spring Boot

  • Ensure delivery aligns and complies with Domain & Security Policies while meeting and exceeding customer’s expectations

  • Apply industry standard design patterns & frameworks, including adoption of Emerging & Open Source technologies as applicable

  • Collaborate with a distributed international team of product management, design, and engineers to deliver high quality features as efficiently as possible.

  • Actively participate in a highly collaborative Agile development process

  • Optimize performance and ensure high availability

  • Mentor and assist in the development of more junior talent

  • Write unit and integration tests and work with QA on both testing and QA automation to enable rapid iterative release cycles.

  • Support IAM solutions and custom authentication and security policies built on Okta

We're excited about you if...

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent work experience.

  • A minimum of 5 years of DevOps experience including, Cloud Networking, AWS EC2, Terraform, Helm, Kubernetes, and Docker

  • A minimum of 6 years of OOP experience, we’re a Java shop, but other languages are okay.

  • Experience creating and working with RESTful APIs (Salesforce and Okta API experience is a plus)

  • Experience with IAM systems like OKTA with applications for provisioning, identity authentication, and developing connectors between IAM tools, system resources, and system authorization.

  • English Speaking with excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Must work well in a regionally distributed team.
