Cohesity is seeking an experienced and passionate Product Attorney to join our Intellectual Property & Product (IPP) legal team!
We're looking for a seasoned product attorney to provide strategic legal counsel on all aspects of software product development, deployment, and lifecycle management, across multiple software categories. In addition, this attorney will oversee parts of the open source program, including open-source review, guidance and remediation, and developing and enforcing company policies for open source compliance. In this role, you will lead cross-functional initiatives and develop deep relationships with our development, product, and business teams to navigate the complexities of our product compliance and open-source contributions.
HOW YOU'LL SPEND YOUR TIME HERE:
Partner with, and advise, the Product Organization on upcoming roadmaps and key product developments and act as liaison to legal.
Provide guidance and support to product, engineering, and other departments during the product release process to ensure legal risk assessments prior to a product launch.
Lead cross-functional initiatives to promote best practices and ensure alignment on Product and open-source strategies, security, and strategic initiatives.
Oversee review and analysis of open-source software in our products and services to ensure compliance with licenses, company policies, and legal standards.
Advise internal teams on open-source usage, contributions, software licensing, compliance and open source risks.
Draft, negotiate, and manage open-source terms in customer/vendor agreements and developer OSS templates/playbooks.
WE'D LOVE TO TALK TO YOU IF YOU HAVE MANY OF THE FOLLOWING:
10+ years legal experience with at least 8+ years of in-house legal experience supporting Products and open-source software
Juris Doctorate from an accredited U.S. law school; admitted to the bar and in good standing in the jurisdiction of hire, or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status)
Experience managing a team of legal professionals.
Demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate, and implement AI-driven solutions to improve business processes and operational efficiency.
Proven ability to manage and improve scalable processes.
Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and develop deep relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Self-motivated, organized, and capable of exhibiting sound judgment across multiple projects simultaneously.
Passion for open-source principles and the technology community.
Degree in computer science or related field (or comparable experience).

Actual salary depends upon many factors, including a candidate’s skills, qualifications and experience, location, and salary expectations, and therefore a starting salary at the low end, high end, or even above the stated range may be offered. This position may also be eligible for bonus compensation, commission (if in a sales function), and/or equity grants. Additionally, full-time employees are eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefits framework, including health and wellness benefits, vacation, paid holidays and refresh days, 401(k) retirement plan, life and disability insurance coverages, and other benefits the Company may offer from time to time.
Pay Range :
The compensation noted above is based on an annualized hourly rate assuming normal full-time employment.
