The Sales Director, APAC is responsible for delivering regional business results through the leadership of a team of Enterprise Sales Representatives (ESRs). This role owns the acquisition of new logos, drives expansion within existing enterprise accounts, and develops sales talent within the team. You will carry a direct new-business quota while guiding the team to consistently meet and exceed performance targets across APAC (excluding Japan & India).
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and execute the Enterprise Account strategy across APAC (excluding Japan & India), aligning to Couchbase’s go-to-market priorities and regional growth targets.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Senior ESR’s and ESR’s, each responsible for new logo acquisition and expansion in existing accounts.
- Manage regional revenue performance, ensuring consistent overachievement through focused planning, disciplined execution, and high-impact customer engagement.
- Partner closely with Pre-Sales Engineering, Customer Success, Marketing, SDRs, Product, and Partner teams to drive multi-threaded relationships and deal success.
- Oversee the team’s sales cycles end-to-end, providing coaching on qualification, strategy, deal progression, and execution frameworks (e.g., MEDDIC).
- Inspect and manage pipeline health, forecast accuracy, and sales activity metrics while ensuring data integrity across Salesforce and sales tools.
- Serve as an executive sponsor for high-value opportunities, reinforcing Couchbase’s value proposition with senior customer stakeholders.
- Foster a culture of performance, accountability, collaboration, and continuous development within the sales team.
- Maintain strong knowledge of the Couchbase platform and enable the team to articulate business value across cloud (SaaS) and on-premises solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 12+ years in enterprise software sales, including 4+ years leading teams of Enterprise Sales Representatives across multiple countries.
- Demonstrated success building and leading teams that consistently exceed revenue targets.
- Experience selling cloud, SaaS, database, or infrastructure software in competitive enterprise environments.
- Strong command of sales qualification methodologies (MEDDIC) and pipeline management discipline.
- Effective influencer and collaborator with strong internal and external executive communication skills.
- Experience co-selling with partners, hyperscalers, and system integrators.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to coach performance and adapt strategy based on insights.
- Comfortable operating in a dynamic, growth-stage environment and passionate about developing high-performing teams.
- Strong analytical, operational, and organizational leadership skills.
- Thrives in dynamic, high-growth environments and excels at building, inspiring, and scaling teams in evolving markets.
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure aligned execution across complex sales cycles, unified customer engagement, and consistent delivery of Couchbase’s value across APAC.
- Establish strong cross-functional operating rhythms (e.g., joint account planning, multi-stakeholder deal reviews, coordinated pipeline generation) that enable predictable execution and frictionless collaboration across all supporting team
