Position Title: Project Manager III, Site Abandonment (P3)

Role

Responsible for overall project management of efficient and timely decommissioning of tower assets to meet and exceed internal and external customer expectations and objectives. Provide oversight to expedite issue resolution, enhance communication and improve delivery of the decommissioning activities in accordance with Crown Castle objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Program Manager and/or Real Estate Manager, internal and external customers and partners to efficiently decommission assets.
  • Execute site abandonment activity, collaborating with internal partners including Legal, Property Management, Tower Assets, Regulatory, Network Operations, Tower Maintenance Operations, Client Services, Commercial Sales, Accounting and Real Estate.
  • Identify opportunities to mitigate risk associated with contractual obligations to decommission assets.
  • Formulate and understand financial impact of projects including decommissioning cost, ground lease and customer license terminations. Present projects to Property Committee for approval decommission.
  • Enforce and understand Crown Castle’s rights and responsibilities under various portfolio agreements (i.e. CCTMO, CCATT) with respect to decommissioning activity.
  • Provide current status reports to management and internal customers on a recurring basis.
  • Facilitate forecasting various stages of projects at levels including Approvals, Customer Equipment Decommissioning, Tower Steel Decommissioning, Real Estate Termination, and post-decommissioning activities. Advocate and monitor compliance with processes and procedures associated with relevant deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities to mitigate risk associated with contractual obligations to decommission assets.
  • Manage internal teammates and outside vendors as required to meet deliverables and objectives associated with deliverables.
  • Formulate and understand financial impact of projects including decommissioning costs, ground lease and customer license terminations. Present projects to Property Committee for approval decommission.
  • Develop strategy to maximize opportunity to reduce ground rent expense through decommissioning activity.
  • Enforce and understand Crown Castle’s rights and responsibilities under various portfolio agreements (i.e. CCTMO, CCATT) with respect to decommissioning activity.
  • Attend deployment-style meetings with internal partners (i.e. Implementation/ Construction/ Legal) to resolve conflicts or problems related to decommissioning activity. Lead internal meetings with other relevant partners, when needed, to review the status of each task and implement any changes required to ensure timely issue resolution and project completion.

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred or equivalent work experience
  • PM Certification preferred but not required
  • Juris Doctorate preferred but not required

Experience/Minimum Requirements

  • Five (5)+ years of experience in telecom project management
  • Tower industry experience required
  • Experience identifying and mitigating risk as it relates to tower lease requirements
  • Comprehensive understanding of interdepartmental roles & responsibilities throughout Crown Castle, as these roles & responsibilities relate to decommissioning of customer equipment, tower assets and real estate interests

Working Conditions: This role falls into our hybrid work model working in the office on Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, teammates on the hybrid schedule will have the option to work from the office or home. There is an expectation of collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter that could require travel.
