Position Summary
In this role, the job requires the engineer to support network capacity and augments as well as general day-to-day network support. He/she will work as a member of a team to complete major initiatives that are network and/or customer facing. The individual will demonstrate a willingness to grow their skill set and take on new challenges.
Additional responsibilities also include implementing and maintaining internal engineering documents and procedures surrounding network configuration, client configuration, network management, and service level design.
Essential Job Functions
- Working in a fast-paced environment and handling multiple tasks with minimal direct supervision.
- Building network by installing, configuring, testing, and documenting equipment/network systems according to the required design and specifications.
- Commissioning of hardware in support of network growth and expansion.
- Assisting with day-to-day networking tasks to ensure network reliability, availability, and serviceability with minimal interruption of services.
- Assisting with production of documentation for installation, network topology.

Education/Certifications
- College Degree specializing in Networking, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field.
- Ciena Optical Communications Certification OC-A.
Experience/Minimum Requirements
- 1+ year of experience with ROADM/DWDM/CWDM technologies.
- 1+ year of experience with DWDM and ROADM platforms from multiple vendors including Ciena, Cisco, and/or Nokia.
- Understanding of OTN, SONET, SDH, TDM, DWDM and CWDM protocols and standards.
- Software Defined Networking (SDN) technologies
- Network security best practices
- Access network applications, systems, and tools that retain all or some data related to customers, financial information, or personally identifiable information (PII). Subject to local and state eligibility, a pre-employment background check will be conducted for criminal convictions, including misdemeanors and felonies related to fraud or violence. A credit check may also be conducted.
Preferred Skills/Abilities
- Technical certifications from Ciena, Juniper, Nokia, or Cisco.
- Direct experience in Software Defined Networking (SDN) technologies.
- Experience and basic understanding of technologies and protocols used in Data/Ethernet networking
- Understanding of or experience with the following: Optical: DWDM, SONET, CWDM.
- MS Office, Visio, Intermediate PC skills

Working Conditions: This role falls into our hybrid work model working in the office on Tuesday through Thursday. On Mondays and Fridays, teammates on the hybrid schedule will have the option to work from the office or home. There is an expectation of collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter that could require travel.
The hiring range offered for this position is $75,280 - $94,100 annually. In addition to salary, employees are eligible for an annual bonus of up to 15% of annual salary. Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 18 days of paid time off each year and 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
