Position Title: Data Center Facilities Engineer I (P3)

Role:

As a Data Center Physical Infrastructure Engineer at Crown Castle, you will be responsible for in-building services for data center facilities across TX, OK, and LA. You will ensure Edge Data Center Facilities are operating at optimal performance by designing, installing, maintaining, and optimizing in-building infrastructure such as HVAC systems, generators, UPS systems, power distribution networks, DC power, fire suppression, and general building construction. This role requires strong technical skills and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance building performance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement in-building systems, including HVAC, power, emergency, and security systems
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of building systems to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Identify, schedule and coordinate necessary facilities upgrades, capacity requirements, and create budgetary requirements
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and contractors to coordinate building projects and upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to in-building systems and infrastructure.
  • Monitor energy consumption and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of systems, including schematics, manuals, and maintenance logs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and local building codes
  • Manage capital projects to meet deadlines and adhere to the allocated budget​​

Education/Certifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent work experience

Experience/Minimum Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience in building engineering or in critical facilities management
  • Experience troubleshooting critical building systems and infrastructure (generators, UPS systems, HVAC systems, AC electrical systems and DC rectifier battery plants)​​
  • Knowledge of BMS (Building Management Systems) and alarming platforms​​
  • Experience with reading and creating standard drawing types – floor plans, electrical one-line diagrams, face equipment drawings​​
  • Familiar with budget creation and solution costing​​
  • Familiarity with Knowledge of data center maintenance best practices
  • A valid driver’s license is a bona fide job requirement to drive and operate a Crown Castle vehicle in this position. Subject to local and state eligibility, a pre-employment background check with MVR will be conducted to evaluate a candidate’s safety record and eligibility to drive for a job.

Organizational Relationship

Reports to: Sr. Manager, Edge Infrastructure Engineering Platform Delivery

Working Conditions: This role falls into our hybrid work model working in the office or datacenter on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. On Mondays and Fridays, teammates on the hybrid schedule will have the option to work from the office, home or a datacenter. There is an expectation of collaboration with teammates, vendor meetings, site walks, site remediation and stakeholders for moments that matter emergencies that could will require travel.
