The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. The Software Test Engineer I applies the principles of secure software engineering to the design, development, maintenance, testing and evaluation of software and cloud infrastructure. Works cross functionally to understand business requirements, architecture and technology direction, evaluate alternative approaches and ensure software and systems are designed accordingly. Incorporates state-of-the-art concepts and practices to facilitate system functionality, scalability, resilience and security as well as ease-of-use (developer / user experience). Applies agile principles to software development with a focus on delivery of business value, collaboration, continuous improvement and sustainability.
- Duties may include:
- Gains familiarity with and applies software engineering concepts, practices and methodologies.
- With guidance, performs standard software test engineering duties for an assigned team.
- Writing unit and system tests to provide coverage for common code paths.
- Identifying and automating manual tasks.
- Evaluating and responding to bug submissions.
- Converting legacy code to new code.
- Creating detailed plans for migrating legacy tools and systems to new / unified systems and language.
- Identifying network, server or software bottlenecks, ensuring application of secure coding practices.
- Performance testing and identifying / resolving uncovered issues.
- Learns and applies industry and company software engineering standards, policies and guidelines.
- Assists with special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and generally less than 2 years’ experience in a related field; or 4 years’ experience in a related field.
- Foundational skills in analytical thinking, requirements analysis, software installation and support, system and technology integration, and technical troubleshooting.
- Foundational skills in building partnerships, challenging personal limitations, driving innovation, focusing on execution and striving for excellence.
