Compensation

Compensation includes a base salary of $65,500.00 - $98,300.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Job Description

The Payroll Tax Analyst provides Tax and Compliance support for federal, state and local payroll tax laws and regulations to our Employee Service Centers and internal payroll partners. The goal is to review payroll data for accuracy and completeness to ensure correct tax withholdings and accurate tax filings with the appropriate agencies which would include W-2s, 941s and state tax returns. The Payroll Tax Analyst would research and stay up to date on changes in payroll tax laws and regulations to maintain compliance. The Payroll Tax Analyst would maintain a high level of confidentiality with an expert understanding of privacy laws and requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations.

  • Review payroll data for accuracy and completeness to ensure correct tax withholdings.

  • Process and file various tax forms, such as W-2s, 941s, and state tax returns.

  • Assist with tax audits and inquiries.

  • Assist with the processing of payroll, including entering and updating employee information, pay rates, and deductions.

  • Maintain accurate payroll records and databases.

  • Process wage and tax corrections - Amendments

  • Research and stay up-to-date on changes in payroll tax laws and regulations.

  • Analyze payroll data to identify potential tax issues or discrepancies.

  • Support the resolution of tax assessments, audits, and other legal matters.

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and tax-related issues.

  • Assist with year-end payroll tax processing and reconciliation.

  • Participate in payroll projects and system implementations.

  • Assist with general administrative tasks related to payroll and tax functions.

  • Ensures check preparation and distribution (including manual)

  • Works with senior-level colleagues as required to interpret pay policies

  • Supports payroll related testing of system updates

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 2 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and up to 2 years’ experience; or in lieu of a degree, 6 years’ experience in a related field

  • Payroll tax experience

  • Workday Payroll experience

  • ADP Smart Compliance experience

  • Service Now Ticketing System experience

  • Exposure to a company with large US footprint (25+ states)

  • Demonstrates the ability to process information with high levels of accuracy

  • Ensure proper protection of confidential information

  • Ensure that all legal and regulatory obligations are adhered to

  • Ensure own actions and those of relevant teams / groups remain legally compliant at all times

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • FCP or CPP payroll certification

  • Canadian tax experience

  • Understands the necessity and value of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Learns from mistakes and applies lessons learned

  • Knowledge and ability to create, implement, evaluate and/or enhance processes for effective internal control

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocations
