Job Description

Cox Automotive is building the future of intelligent dealership operations. We're seeking a Senior Product Manager to help scale two transformative initiatives: our AI-powered Virtual Contact Assistant and next-generation CRM workflows that unify sales, service, and vehicle acquisition into a single, intelligent platform. Join us at a pivotal moment where we're reimagining dealership operations from two powerful angles:

AI-Powered Customer Engagement: Our Virtual Contact Assistant has proven its foundation; now we need product leadership to drive strategic expansion and delivery. You'll own key capabilities within our agentic AI platform—potentially areas like voice AI integration, intelligent product assistants, or workflow-specific automation.

Modern CRM Transformation: Simultaneously, we're building staff-facing workflows that bring the same intelligence and efficiency to dealer teams. Think unified customer views across acquisition, sales, and service—with AI-driven next best actions, streamlined processes, and contextual insights that make every dealer interaction more effective.

We need someone who can deliver transformative capabilities across customer-facing AI and staff-enabling workflows.

What You'll Do:

Own Strategic Product Capabilities Drive the vision and delivery for specific capabilities that could span both customer-facing AI automation and dealer-facing workflow intelligence. Whether it's voice AI for customers or intelligent assistants guiding dealer staff, you'll have significant ownership over your domain while contributing to our broader platform strategy.

Deliver Measurable Business Impact Focus relentlessly on outcomes: conversion rates, response times, revenue lift, dealer efficiency gains, staff productivity improvements. Translate technical capabilities into compelling dealer value propositions that drive measurable ROI.

Execute with Velocity Partner with Engineering, data science, architecture, UX, and Go-to-Market teams to ship quickly against ambitious timelines. Balance innovation with practical execution constraints across both AI automation and workflow modernization.

Champion Customer & Dealer-Centric Design Deeply understand both customer journeys and dealership staff workflows. Design intelligent automation that feels natural for customers and empowering for dealer teams. Build features that drive adoption on both sides of the equation.

Unify Fragmented Experiences Help connect disparate workflows across vehicle acquisition, sales, and service into coherent, intelligent processes. Whether customers are engaging with AI or staff are managing those relationships, create continuity that was previously impossible.

Collaborate on Platform Strategy Work alongside other product leaders and AI strategists to ensure your capabilities integrate seamlessly into our broader VCA and CRM ecosystem. Contribute to architectural decisions that enable true platform thinking.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 4 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 2 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 8 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Product Execution Excellence You've shipped products that delivered real business results. You know how to move from concept to launch while navigating technical constraints, stakeholder needs, and market realities. You balance speed with quality.
  • AI/ML Fluency You understand modern AI capabilities and limitations. You're comfortable discussing LLMs, agentic workflows, and conversation design—but you don't need to be the AI architect. You know how to partner with technical teams to build AI-powered products that work.
  • Workflow & CRM Thinking You understand how enterprise software enables or constrains user productivity. You've designed staff-facing tools that handle complex processes elegantly. Bonus if you have experience with CRM systems, sales enablement tools, or operational software.
  • Customer Obsession You've worked closely with end users—whether external customers or internal staff—to understand their workflows and pain points. You can translate messy real-world problems into elegant product solutions. Bonus if you have automotive, field sales, or complex B2B experience.
  • Strategic Communication You articulate product vision clearly to diverse audiences—from dealers to executives to engineering teams. You build alignment through compelling narratives about customer value and business impact.
  • Collaborative Leadership You thrive in environments where you own specific outcomes but partner extensively with others. You contribute to strategy while executing on your domain. You're comfortable with both autonomy and interdependence.
  • Adaptability & Learning Velocity You're comfortable with ambiguity and evolving priorities. You learn quickly—whether it's automotive domain knowledge, new AI capabilities, or emerging competitive dynamics. You adjust course based on data and feedback.

Potential Focus Areas:

Depending on your background and our evolving needs, you might own:

  • Customer-Facing AI Automation
  • Voice AI Integration: Bringing conversational AI to phone channels, enabling natural dealer-customer voice interactions.
  • Intelligent Product Assistants: Building contextual help and guidance systems that support dealer workflows (think modern "Clippy" done right).
  • Specialized Workflow Automation: Deep automation for specific use cases like appointment scheduling, telematics notifications, or service reminders.

Staff-Enabling CRM Workflows

  • Unified Customer Views: Connecting vehicle acquisition, sales, and service data into single, intelligent staff interfaces.
  • Next Best Action Intelligence: AI-driven recommendations that guide dealer staff through optimal customer engagement strategies.
  • Streamlined Process Design: Modernizing lead management, follow-up workflows, and cross-departmental handoffs.
  • Contextual Insights: Surfacing the right data at the right time—leveraging Cox's ecosystem of KBB valuations, VINsights, and inventory intelligence.

Cross-Platform Capabilities

  • Expansion into New Channels: Driving capabilities into new customer segments or workflow areas.
  • Integration Architecture: Ensuring seamless data flow between AI automation and staff tools.

Why Cox Automotive:

Proven Foundation: Join products with demonstrated success and validated market demand—you'll build on momentum, not start from scratch.

Unique Advantages: Leverage Cox's unmatched automotive data ecosystem—decades of valuation data (KBB), vehicle insights (VINsights), and deep dealership relationships that competitors cannot replicate.

Dual Impact Opportunity: Work on both customer-facing innovation and staff productivity—seeing your work transform dealership operations from multiple angles.

Clear Business Value: Solve problems costing dealerships millions annually in lost leads and operational inefficiency while transforming how an entire industry operates.

Investment & Support: We're committing real resources to win this market. You'll have the backing needed to execute with velocity across both initiatives.

Collaborative Innovation: Work with AI strategists, CRM experts, technical leaders, and fellow product managers who are pushing boundaries in production AI systems and modern workflow design.

Career-Defining Work: Shape how AI and modern software transform one of America's largest industries at a company leading the charge.

What We're Building Toward

An intelligent platform that doesn't just respond to customers—it orchestrates entire dealership journeys while empowering staff with the context and tools they need to succeed. One that learns from every interaction, adapts to every context, and operates autonomously at scale. A system where dealership best practices become embedded intelligence, available 24/7, across every customer touchpoint and every staff workflow.

We're not building a chatbot or just another CRM. We're building the operating system for AI-first dealership operations—where customer automation and staff enablement work in perfect harmony.

If you're energized by shipping AI-powered products that transform established industries, if you balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution, and if you thrive in collaborative environments where your work directly impacts business outcomes—let's talk.
