Compensation includes a base salary of $111,500.00 - $185,900.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Job Description

Cox Enterprises is seeking a Business Operations Senior Manager, Marketing to join our team. The preferred locations for this role are Atlanta, Georgia or West Palm Beach, Florida. Employees based in either office will follow a hybrid schedule that includes both in-office and remote work. Candidates outside of these locations may work fully remote. Regardless of location, the role requires working EST hours.

The Role:

The Business Operations Senior Manager, Marketing serves as a strategic leader responsible for driving operational excellence, financial integrity, and accounting precision across a growing, multi-unit organization. Operating within the Brand, Marketing, Creative, and Events team at Cox Enterprises, this role supports the financial and operational needs of a highly creative, strategic marketing and media‑focused organization.

This role goes beyond transactional accounting - it is accountable for shaping and scaling business processes that enable enterprise-wide efficiency, compliance, and innovation. Acting as a key advisor to senior leadership and the Director of Business Operations, the Senior Manager will lead cross-functional initiatives, oversee complex system integrations, and champion operational transformation efforts that support long-term growth. In addition to managing critical accounting functions, this position will influence organizational strategy, mentor future leaders, and ensure that operational frameworks align with corporate objectives and industry best practices. A successful candidate brings robust financial and operational acumen and the ability to translate that expertise effectively within a highly creative organization.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Governance

  • Define and implement operational frameworks that support enterprise-wide scalability and compliance.

  • Partner with leadership to influence the design and evolution of business processes, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy.

  • Lead governance initiatives for operational standards, risk management, and continuous improvement.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as liaison between Accounting, Procurement, IT, and other business units to harmonize processes and eliminate silos.

  • Drive initiatives that impact multiple departments, ensuring consistency and efficiency across the organization as administrator of our system of record, Workamajig.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Mentor a team of operational professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.

  • Build organizational capability by developing future leaders and ensuring succession planning within the operations function.

Business Operations Impact

  • Represent Business Operations in strategic planning forums, influencing decisions that shape the organization’s financial and operational health.

  • Lead high-impact projects that extend beyond the immediate team, driving outcomes for the broader enterprise.

Additional Job Functions:

  • Lead the development and execution of media accounting reconciliation processes for 60+ media campaigns annually, reconciled on a quarterly basis.

  • Serve as system administrator for Workamajig (WMJ), including data imports, employee record maintenance, global lists, and technical connections.

  • Oversee evaluation and implementation of new platforms, including system setup, security, data organization and on-going system admin (ex. 2026 DAM implementation).

  • Design and implement business operations and accounting procedures aligned with Cox policies; integrate relevant processes into Workamajig, as needed.

  • Manage monthly and year-end accounting activities, including:

    • Oversee monthly client billing and manage client credits/refunds

    • Manage system transactions during monthly revenue recognition calls

    • Maintain healthy receivables and follow up on aging balances

    • Reconcile monthly bank activity in WMJ

    • Oversee weekly vendor invoice imports to Oracle; resolve import failures with IBT team

    • Review weekly Oracle activity for employee Pcard and expense reports; identify project-related expenses to import to Workamajig, prepare import file and categorize expenses.

    • Create GL entries needed to maintain consistency between WMJ and Oracle accounts

    • Tie out revenue, cost of sale and outside services GL accounts monthly; resolve variances

    • Create additional Oracle GL entries as needed during close periods

  • SME for Workamajig reporting; manage on-going reports and develop new reporting as needed.

  • Support client service teams with quarterly planning worksheets in Excel.

  • Oversee Accounting Coordinator in duties.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 8 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 6 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and 3 years' experience in a related field; or 12 years’ experience in a related field.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and proficiency in other Office products.

  • Strong technical, system administration and reporting skills.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, data management, attention-to-detail, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration across teams.

  • Familiarity with agency/project management, accounting and/or DAM platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in financial or operational roles within a creative marketing or media agency.
