Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $179,600.00 - $299,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Job Description

Cox Enterprises is hiring an Aircraft Captain, The Aircraft Captain is the most visible representative to the passengers and must act with diplomacy and decorum while ensuring safe and efficient operation. When assigned to a flight, the Aircraft Captain has the final authority in the operation of the aircraft. This includes the authority to start, delay or cancel a flight. The Aircraft Captain also has the authority to deviate from the flight plan when operating conditions dictate. This position reports directly to the Director of Pilot Operations.

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Act as PIC or SIC on assigned flights.

  • Comply with all federal, state, local and foreign regulations, as well as company policies and procedures specified in the company Flight Operations Manual.

  • Ensure that preflight inspections are performed.

  • Comply with schedules and other directives governing the aircraft’s safe and efficient operation.

  • Study the weather conditions and forecasts for the departure airport, flight plan route, destination and alternate airports.

  • Ensure that the aircraft is clean and prepared for flights with all provisions on board for the safety and comfort of the passengers.

  • Prepare flight plans, when necessary, in the absence of the Flight Coordinator/Dispatcher.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a high degree of aeronautical skill and knowledge.

  • Supervise the SIC in any duties necessary for the safe, and efficient operation of the aircraft.

  • Coordinate the duties of all crew members assigned to the flight.

  • Monitor crew performance and share knowledge.

  • Ensure that maintenance issues and required services are communicated to technical operations/maintenance personnel.

  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 10 years’ experience in aviation or related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 8 years' experience; or 14 years’ experience in aviation or related field

  • ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) Certification.

  • First-Class Medical Certification

  • Previous Jet Type Rating

  • Minimum 1500 Hours Turbine.

  • 3000 Total Flight Hours.
