Role Overview:

As a Business Development Manager at Deliveroo, you will be pivotal in identifying, signing, and nurturing relationships with retailers and grocery partners. Your goal will be to expand Deliveroo’s portfolio of grocery and retail partners, enhancing the variety and convenience we offer to our customers. We are looking for a strategic thinker with excellent negotiation skills, an understanding of the retail and grocery landscape, and experience with driving business growth. This newly created position will report to the Head of Business Development in Kuwait where we are operating on a hybrid model and you’ll come into the office three days a week.

Responsibilities:

Identify and Prospect:

  • Research and identify potential retail and grocery partners that align with Deliveroo’s strategic goals.

  • Develop a pipeline of prospective partners through market analysis, networking, and industry events.

  • Approach, negotiate, and secure partnerships with key retailers and grocery stores.

  • Create compelling partnership proposals and presentations tailored to the needs of prospective partners.

  • Build relationships with top brands and chains to prepare onboarding on Deliveroo platform

  • Acquisition of new retail companies with strong negotiation acumen and out-of-the-box thinking

  • Put together proposals that fit the needs of the retailer while keeping Deliveroo's profitability top of mind

  • Ensure a smooth and complete integration process when bringing a partner on board, from the registration phase to the operational launch

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement strategies to increase the number and quality of retail and grocery partners.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, and product development, to drive initiatives that enhance partner success and satisfaction.

Market Insights:

  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to inform business development strategies.

  • Provide feedback and insights to the internal team to help shape product offerings and market approaches.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in business development, sales, or partnership management, preferably within the retail or grocery sector.

  • Experience negotiating and closing business deals.

  • Fluent in Arabic and English is required

  • Proven negotiation skills

  • A fantastic communicator with a "get it done" mindset, well organised and efficient

  • Self-starter capable of driving yourself to your targets every month

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
