Our Front-end Systems team is responsible for building and maintaining Docusign’s web core component libraries used across the entire product development organization; with focuses on design systems, React, performance, scalability, and accessibility. As the Director of Engineering for this team, you will drive the future engineering direction of these shared libraries, as well as the accessibility and globalization programs. The ideal candidate for this position is someone that is passionate about building teams that focus on delivering the best possible customer experience with performance, scalability, and efficiency in mind and is always looking for efficiency and scale improvements. We are looking for someone that also excels at partnering across various internal teams and departments, including Design, Product, Engineering, and Branding.

This position is a people manager role reporting to the VP, Engineering.

Responsibility

• Lead a passionate, agile engineering team to deliver features and improvements to our React component libraries that are high quality, scalable, and secure
• Attract and develop great talent
• Drive the long-term technical strategy
• Build and scale out the accessibility program
• Provide technical expertise throughout all phases of the development lifecycle to help drive the product roadmap
• Provide coaching and leadership in software best practices, automated test strategies, and work toward flattening the cost of change curve for our software products and services
• Deliver expertise at agile continuous delivery, DevOps and TDD/BDD and will champion the culture, processes, and tools required to maintain a frictionless high-quality development environment
• Collaborate closely with the design systems team to deliver components that delight customers while managing the health of the code base through continuous refactoring and management of technical debt

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

Basic

• BS degree in Computer Science or related field
• 12+ years of combined experience in software development and management
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in cloud / SaaS / enterprise software development
• 3+ years of hands-on experience managing and leading an engineering team delivering JavaScript/React libraries

Preferred

• Demonstrated track record leading geographically dispersed teams
• Demonstrated track record of being a change agent, leaving every team and process better than you found it
• Experience with HTML, CSS and React
• Prior experience with SaaS development
• Prior experience building and deploying JavaScript core component libraries

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

California: $195,500 - $315,775 base salary

Washington and New York (including NYC metro area): $186,200 - $276,125 base salary

This role is also eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.
