What you'll do

We are seeking a highly experienced Software Engineer with deep expertise in public sector government cloud environments, security compliance, and DevOps practices. This role will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of secure, scalable cloud solutions for government and national security clients. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in architecting SaaS/PaaS deployments in regulated environments, driving DevOps transformations, and ensuring compliance with stringent standards such as FedRAMP, SOC2, PCI, HIPAA, and SOX. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to evangelize cloud-native best practices, automate infrastructure, and support mission-critical systems in public cloud transitions.

This position is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who thrives in mentoring teams, navigating cultural changes in large organizations, and delivering transformational business impacts through technology.

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the GVP, Cloud & Production Engineering.

Responsibility

  • Lead the architectural design and deployment of SaaS/PaaS platforms in government cloud environments, including solutions for national security

  • Gather requirements from internal and external stakeholders, design solutions across public cloud footprints, and implement changes for environmental and regulatory compliance

  • Lead Technical Exchange Meetings with government stakeholders and customer communities

  • Mentor engineering and development teams on cloud adoption, best practices, and operational automation

  • Design and implement cloud strategies for IaaS/PaaS, including OpenStack-like deployments

  • Automate platform engineering for monitoring, backups, and disaster recovery

  • Evaluate and integrate M&A technologies, such as PaaS services and fraud detection systems, into secure cloud ecosystems

  • Recognize technology potential to drive business transformation

  • Develop governance models for cloud operations, conduct feasibility testing, and provide strategic planning for secure, scalable systems

Job Designation

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring

Basic

  • 15+ years in software engineering, cloud architecture, and DevOps, with at least 5 years focused on public sector or government cloud environments
  • Experience in leading and deploying secure cloud solutions for national security or regulated industries, including SaaS/PaaS in public clouds

  • Experience with M&A security uplifts, compliance audits, and control implementations

  • Experience in public and private cloud engineering. Proficient in IaaS/PaaS automation, cloud-native best practices, and hybrid cloud transitions

  • Experience with audit processes, control design/deployment (SOC2, SSAE16, PCI, HIPAA, SOX).

  • Experience with 2-factor authentication (e.g., Yubikey), encryption, VPNs, LDAP/Kerberos, and segregated access controls

  • Experience in Unix/Linux & Windows systems, databases (Microsoft SQL Service, Postgres), networking (BGP, VPN, firewalls), and scripting (manifests, automation scripts)

  • Experience with real-time protocols, monitoring tools, and disaster recovery planning

  • Experience with communicating in stakeholder meetings and mentoring

  • Experience handling cultural changes and driving adoption in multinational teams

Preferred

  • Active TS/SCI (Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information) clearance
  • Experience with Salesforce Government Cloud or similar regulated platforms

  • Background in data center migrations, PCI-compliant environments, and point-in-time backups

  • Detail-oriented with a strategic mindset for recognizing technology's business impact

Wage Transparency

Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

California: $202,800.00 - $327,625.00 base salary

This role is also eligible for the following:

  • Bonus: Sales personnel are eligible for variable incentive pay dependent on their achievement of pre-established sales goals. Non-Sales roles are eligible for a company bonus plan, which is calculated as a percentage of eligible wages and dependent on company performance.
  • Stock: This role is eligible to receive Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
