Engineering Project Specialist, Redmond WA

Job Summary:

Meta is looking for an Engineering Project Coordinator/Specialist to join the team. This person will be help coordinate and administer all engineering project activities, targeting a successful execution of the project. Responsibilities include coordination and tracking of activities and ordering/tracking hardware components to ensure that the needs of the Technical Program Manager and engineering teams are met through the complete cycle. This position will act as the right-hand man to the Technical Program Manager and assist with coordination of programs to ease the workload. To be successful in this role, this person needs to be proactive and self-motivated to adapt to the company's dynamic environment.

Job Qualifications:

  • Over 3 years as an Engineering Project Coordinator in the consumer electronics industry.
  • Proficient in NPI (New Product Introduction) hardware development and collaboration with contract manufacturers in Asia.
  • Skilled in creating and tracking BOM (Bill of Materials) and Build Matrix, working with Engineering, TPMs, and PLM teams to complete design releases and CTB (Clear-To-Build) tracking.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills across time zones and adept at managing shifting priorities.
  • Experienced in procurement, including issuing and managing POs.
  • Knowledgeable in distribution logistics.
  • Some background in budget management.
  • Proficient in using spreadsheets and PowerPoint for managing BOM.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Vendor Communication: Manage communication with vendors regarding purchase orders (PO), invoices, material requirements, and delivery schedules.
  • Build Matrix (BM) Support: Assist with engineering builds by managing Bill of Materials (BOM) components, adding part numbers, and specifying configurations and suppliers for each component.
  • Allocation Requests: Collaborate with the team to gather allocation requests for builds and distribute them across all configurations of the BM.
  • Local SMT and Prototype Builds: Coordinate with engineers and vendors to oversee daily build activities, document progress, and communicate updates.
  • Travel Support: Travel to support prototype builds at local and overseas contract manufacturers as needed (post-WFH restrictions).
  • Conference Calls: Participate in conference calls with Asia-based engineering teams and manufacturing partners.
  • Clear-To-Build (CTB) Reports: Review CTB reports, address material shortages, and follow up with GSM, TPM, and engineering teams.
  • Change Orders: Create, manage, and process Engineering Change Orders (ECO), Manufacturer Change Orders (MCO), and deviations.
  • Project Management: Handle multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and quality.
  • Shipment Coordination: Work with contract manufacturers on shipment schedules, track shipments, and assist the logistics team with home delivery address collection and peer-to-peer transfer requests.
  • Inventory Management: Manage prototype hardware inventory and internal device distribution.
