Hardware System Engineer (Sensing Tech for Wearables)

Meta Reality Labs is seeking an experienced Hardware System Engineer to join their team in Sunnyvale, CA! This position will be working on designing and developing sensing technology for Wearables including AR Glasses and Smart Watch hardware. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in design, development, characterization, and validation of sensing technologies. Additionally, the candidate should have experience in multiple bring-up cycles of new sensors from prototyping and feasibility study stages to commercialization.

Responsibilities:

• Develop sensing technology for Wearable tech including AR Glasses and Watch
• Support hardware system design, including Flex/Rigid PCB, schematic/layout, etc.
• Work with team to research and design new sensor module architectures to support additional features and build end to end solutions for new sensor features
• Conduct performance benchmarking against other sensor modalities
• Work with engineering team to build prototypes, including sensor architecture, defining ASIC specifications, algorithm development, characterization, Firmware and system level bring-up

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or Electronics Engineering
• Expertise in hardware system architecture, schematic circuit design, and bring-up for sensing technologies commonly used in consumer electronics applications such as PCs, mobile devices, automotive, and AR/VR devices.
• Experience with various sensing technologies such as Capacitive Touch (Cap Touch), touchpads, touch displays, haptic feedback, or similar
• Experience working through multiple hardware/system bring-up cycles, from early design, integration, characterization, and validation
• Experience with PCB design tools such as Cadence (OrCAD/Allegro), Altium

Nice to Have (Not Required):

• Familiarity with physiological signal such as ECG, PPG, ultrasonic, EMG, heart rate, respiration rate, blood pressure monitoring
• Experience in microcontroller-based prototyping using processor peripheral interfaces such as I2C and SPI
• Experience designing and developing Sensors/ASICs

• Duration: 1 year, plus extensions (2 years)
• Location: Sunnyvale, CA (Hybrid - Onsite 3 Days per week)
• Work Schedule: Mon-Fri (40 hours/week)
• Hourly Pay: $90.00-$100.00 per hour
