Meta Reality Labs - Mechanical Design Engineer - Sunnyvale, CA

Meta is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Sunnyvale, CA! The main function of this Product Design Engineer is to explore, prototype and implement new technologies into functional medium volume prototypes to validate technical and product level functionality, use cases and tech maturity. In parallel with de-risking efforts, we will be preparing production documentation including governing design files and bill of materials. You will work alongside a diverse and expert XFN team consisting of EE, FW/SW, Audio, Optical engineers.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Support product development of new concepts and technologies for next generation Wearable technology
• Work with team on technology development projects through creation of functional prototypes, development of test methods
• Design product components and systems for consumer electronics
• Contribute to creation of technical specifications and product definition
• Help design electromechanical systems for device testing and validation
• Develop and implement test methods for design validation
• Work closely with XFN team consisting of EE, FW/SW/, Audio, Optical, REL, MfgEng

Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, related engineering field, or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of experience designing and shipping components or systems for consumer electronics or similar mid to high-volume industries.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and experience with: Material science experience with relevant materials for consumer electronics: plastics, metals, insulators, gaskets, thermal interface materials - Heat transfer - Statics - Dynamics - Structural design
• Experience with production drawings to GD&T standard and tolerance analysis
• Experience with various subtractive and additive manufacturing technologies for production and prototyping: injection molding, sheet metal, co-molding, machining, CNC - Data analysis and visualization experience (matlab, python, jmp or similar)
• Experience building part and assembly prototypes in the shop
• Proficient in Siemens NX and/or SolidWorks

Familiarity with PCBA and FPC design and manufacturing methods
