The Camera and Depth HW team within XDO develops high-performance Camera and Depth solutions for Facebook Reality Labs’s AR/VR products. This multidisciplinary group brings research to life by realizing state-of-the-art custom modules including mixed-signal ASICs, image sensors, lasers, optics, and firmware. The Camera and Depth HW team is seeking a Camera & Depth Electrical Engineer for end-to-end ownership of development and productization electrical engineering from early concepts to release to mass production. We are seeking an Electrical Engineer who has a passion for working across disciplines to transform research technologies into physical solutions. As a Camera & Depth Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the circuit design, board bring-up, implementation and debug of mixed-signal ASICs and systems used in our solutions. You will experiment with and develop novel solutions to complex electronics problems, working closely with cross functional partners combining electronics, image sensors, optics, mechanicals, and firmware.

Camera and Depth Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the implementation and debugging of mixed-signal ASICs, board-level circuitry, high-speed, RF, and signal integrity and systems used in our solutions
• Develop novel solutions to complex electronics problems
• Work closely with cross functional partners combining electronics, image sensors, optics, mechanicals, and firmware
• Collaborate with the System electrical engineering teams on seamless integration of camera and depth modules into Reality Labs’ devices
• Develop design methodologies and Best Practices for the Camera & Depth EE team
• Implement our Product Development Process methodology in all designs, and present your work in design reviews
• Assess vendors and manage outsourced development of PCBs
• Lead debugging and failure analysis activities
  
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in electronic hardware development
• 6+ years of consumer product life cycles of experience
• Experience with system-level design including circuit design, high-speed / RF / signal integrity, PCB layout, system bring-up, integration, and debug
• Experience with low-power analog circuit design, DC/DC converters, power management methods, A/D and D/A conversion and image sensors
• Experience with designing the following electrical subsystems: power regulators, high speed digital signal integrity (MIPI CPHY, MIPI DPHY), SOC and micro-controllers, serial-communication protocols (I2C, I3C, SPI, LVDS)
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB design using Cadence OrCAD/Allegro or equivalent
• Good understanding of power characterization and signal integrity test
• Experience with developing detailed test plans and performing electrical hardware validation
• Good technical communication skills
• Experience with laboratory validation work which includes the ability to test/validate/debug completed reworks/assemblies/development platforms using oscilloscopes, frame grabber, optical sensor devices, logic analyzers, impedance analyzers, and similar
• General capability of python coding and C language development
• Experience using scripting languages like Matlab/Python for data analysis. Proven experience of running FW commands to drive prototype platforms
• Experience validating/verifying EE function blocks including Custom ASICs
• Experience in cross-group collaboration
• Passion, diligence, integrity, and exceptional aptitude. Willingness and ability to learn new skills

• MS in related fields preferred
• Experience with camera or depth sensor or auto-focus electrical design
• Experience with laser driver or Camera and Depth sensor chip architectures
• Experience developing modules or systems in high volume consumer electronic products
• Experience partnering with software or firmware teams to define and verify HW design maturity across test cases
• Experience working with JDM, ODM, CM partners
