The VR organization owns the core platform software for Meta’s Quest devices and next-generation VR products, enabling reliable, high-performance system capabilities that support developers, product teams, and end users.The Director of Technical Program Management for VR will lead and grow a team of TPMs driving execution across OS platform development, device integration, and release readiness for Quest and next-generation VR devices. This role partners closely with engineering, product management, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver foundational system software that supports new device launches, monthly software releases, and long-term platform strategy.The ideal candidate brings deep experience leading large-scale software programs across multiple engineering teams, with a proven track record of building and scaling TPM organizations. They thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and are able to communicate and collaborate with teams around shared goals. This leader operates effectively at both the strategic and executional levels—driving long-term platform planning while rolling up their sleeves to unblock teams and ensure high-quality delivery.

Director Technical Program Manager, VR Responsibilities:

  • Partner with engineering and product leadership to define and evolve the long-term OS platform strategy.
  • Develop end-to-end program plans, influence cross-functional teams to deliver against them, and keep leadership informed on progress.
  • Drive delivery of core OS capabilities supporting device software, system integration, new product launches, and regular release cycles.
  • Perform risk management and change management across complex, multi-team programs.
  • Drive internal process improvements across software engineering and platform functions.
  • Work with teams to establish milestones, communicate program status, and identify and address potential setbacks.

  • Ensure engineering efforts balance cost and benefit while focusing on the highest-priority partner and customer needs.
  • Serve as an evangelist for execution excellence, platform rigor, and operational discipline across the VR organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • 15+ years of experience in software, systems engineering, or Technical program management
  • 10+ years of experience building and leading Technical Program Management teams delivering large-scale software platforms or systems
  • Proven experience building and scaling TPM organizations through design and execution of complex software platforms
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, including relationship building across multidisciplinary, cross-functional teams
  • Experience growing and developing organizations
  • Knowledge of software development processes and best practices
  • Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience delivering operating systems or platform software for consumer devices
  • Experience scaling large platform or system software organizations
  • Background in Virtual Reality or consumer electronics ecosystems

Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
