Our hardware teams design and build the devices that make the metaverse a reality, including VR/MR headsets, Smart and AR Glasses, and consumer electronics wearables.We are seeking highly skilled Supplier Development Engineers (SDEs) specializing in Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) and Flexible Printed Circuits & Assembly (FPCA). In this role, you will act as the technical and quality bridge between our internal hardware engineering teams and our external manufacturing partners. You will lead process development, ensure rigorous quality engineering and assurance, and drive continuous yield improvements to deliver high-quality, cutting-edge FPCA/PCB technologies for our next-generation consumer products.

Supplier Development Engineer (SDE) – FPCA & PCB Responsibilities:
- Process Development & NPI: Lead NPI activities for PCB/FPCA components. Partner with design engineers to conduct DFM reviews for robust PCB/FPCA design and define process flows, material selections, and tooling/fixture requirements
- Quality Engineering: Establish rigorous quality control and quality assurance standards at the PCB & FPCA supplier level. Develop and implement Inspection SOPs and QCPs
- Yield Improvement & Outgoing Quality Management: Monitor supplier yield data and downstream vendor quality performance in real-time. Lead cross-functional teams to troubleshoot manufacturing defects using tools like 8D, FMEA, and Fishbone diagrams to implement effective FACA
- Test Engineering Development: Act as the primary test engineering liaison. Collaborate with Meta EE, supplier test engineers, and equipment vendors to drive tester design, define comprehensive test coverage, and execute tester buy-off
- Supplier Management & Auditing: Conduct regular on-site supplier audits to assess manufacturing capabilities, process controls, and quality management systems. Drive continuous improvement initiatives (CIP) at vendor facilities
- Statistical Process Control: Implement and oversee Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies (Cp/Cpk analysis) at supplier sites to ensure manufacturing process stability and repeatability for critical dimensions and electrical characteristics
- Qualification & Reliability: Oversee component-level reliability testing and process qualification (FAI - First Article Inspection, PPAP) to ensure FPCAs and PCBs meet Meta’s exacting standards
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
- 8+ years of industry experience in process engineering, quality engineering, or supplier development specifically focused on FPCA, PCB, or rigid-flex manufacturing
- Understanding of PCB/FPCA manufacturing processes (e.g., lamination, drilling, plating, etching, surface finishes, routing, SMT, PSA, bending, de-paneling)
- Skillful working knowledge of industry standards (IPC-A-600, IPC-6012, IPC-6013)
- Proven experience applying Quality Engineering tools, including SPC, DOE, FMEA, and root cause analysis methodologies
- Ability to travel up to 50% to supplier manufacturing sites
- Master’s degree in an engineering discipline
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
- Experience working with high-density interconnect (HDI) boards, advanced miniaturization, and wearable consumer electronics
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., English and Mandarin) to effectively communicate with overseas partners
- Experience working directly with top-tier FPCA/PCB suppliers globally
