Key Responsibilities

• Architect Scalable Services: Own the design, delivery, and continual refactoring of Fibr’s core microservices (Node.js, MongoDB) to ensure high performance and reliability.
• Backend Roadmap & Strategy: Define a multi‑year technical vision for our backend platform, balancing new feature delivery with foundation‑level optimizations.
• Mentorship & Leadership: Guide senior and junior engineers in coding best practices, system design reviews, and troubleshooting critical production issues.
• Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Design, and the AI team to translate feature specs—both traditional and AI‑powered—into low‑level designs and implementation plans.
• AI Integration Partnership: Partner with our Applied AI Lead to embed language models and decision‑agent endpoints into backend workflows—handling model orchestration, data pipelines, and inference scaling.
• Quality & Observability: Define and maintain metrics, tracing, and alerts for backend services; drive continuous improvement via performance profiling and capacity planning.
• Technology Scouting: Stay on top of backend and AI trends (e.g., vector databases, Kubernetes autoscaling, LangChain) and introduce tools that accelerate our developer velocity and system robustness.

Qualifications
Experience: 4+ years in backend engineering, with 2+ years leading teams or projects in a tech‑lead capacity.

Distributed Systems:

• Deep expertise in building and operating cloud‑native microservices on AWS (or GCP/Azure), with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and infra‑as‑code (Terraform).
• Tech Stack Mastery: Strong in Node.js (or Go/Python), MongoDB (or PostgreSQL), REST/GraphQL APIs, and message‑driven architectures (Kafka/RabbitMQ).
• AI‑Adjacent Skills: Hands‑on familiarity with LLMs, prompt engineering, or RAG integration—willingness to stretch into MLOps, fine‑tuning, and real‑time inference concerns.
• Leadership & Communication: Proven ability to set technical direction, articulate complex ideas clearly, and influence cross‑team decisions.
• Startup & 0→1 Mindset: Comfortable in high‑ambiguity environments; able to juggle rapid delivery cycles and evolving priorities.
