Success in this role means fewer shortages, faster sourcing decisions, better pricing and terms, and higher confidence in the supply base.

You will report to the Sourcing Lead.

What You’ll Be Doing

Sourcing & Supplier Management

  • Source and manage COTS mechanical hardware, including fasteners, inserts, springs, standard machined components, automation components, and raw materials.

  • Leverage Misumi and similar catalogs while identifying and qualifying true OEM manufacturers in Guangdong.

  • Decide when to use catalog suppliers vs direct OEM sourcing based on cost, lead time, volume, and risk.

  • Build and maintain a diversified supplier base to reduce single-source dependency.

Procurement Execution

  • Own end-to-end procurement: RFQs, cost analysis, negotiation, PO placement, delivery tracking.

  • Negotiate not only price, but also MOQ, lead time, payment terms, capacity commitments, and buffering strategies.

  • Manage NDAs, supplier agreements, and commercial terms in line with company policies.

Business & Inventory Judgment

  • Recommend inventory strategies based on demand variability, lead times, and financial tradeoffs.

  • Balance cash, risk, and service levels rather than optimizing for unit price alone.

  • Identify and execute cost-reduction and supply-chain improvement opportunities.

Technical & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and quality teams to ensure correct sourcing and smooth execution.

  • Support substitutions, alternates, and value-engineering decisions when constraints arise.

Supplier Performance & Risk Management

  • Monitor supplier performance across quality, cost, and delivery.

  • Drive corrective actions with underperforming suppliers.

  • Anticipate supply risks and act early to prevent disruptions.

Travel

0–10% travel, primarily local supplier visits within Guangdong.

Desired Traits

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.

  • 5+ years of hands-on procurement or sourcing experience supporting manufacturing.

  • Direct experience sourcing off-the-shelf mechanical hardware.

  • Strong understanding of Guangdong supplier ecosystems.

  • Proven negotiation skills and supplier relationship management experience.

  • Ability to work independently, make decisions, and drive outcomes.

Strongly Preferred
Existing supplier network in South China.

  • Experience recommending inventory levels and managing financial tradeoffs.

  • Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
