Job Description

Please note: This role will be based in San Mateo, CA and requires an in-office presence 3x per week.

Freshworks seeks an experienced Senior Director to transform our corporate communications efforts into storytelling that drives impact and action as we climb past $1 billion in revenue. You have a proven track record in strategic communications, media relations, and executive thought leadership as methods to increase company awareness.

You will report to the VP of Corporate Communications and partner closely with the Freshworks executive leadership team to develop forward-thinking narratives that win the hearts and minds of press, investors, customers, and employees. You are a highly collaborative team leader and thrive in a fast-paced environment, with a keen ability to drive communications strategies from planning through execution and delivery of exceptional results.

Responsibilities:

  • Corporate Communications Strategy

    • Lead the planning and execution of holistic, integrated communications campaigns that turn corporate activities including earnings, investor day, and company events into stories that increase awareness among press, investors, customers and future employees.

  • Executive Thought Leadership

    • Develop a cohesive thought leadership strategy for the entire Freshworks C-suite that applies our corporate narrative to tech’s biggest trends and our customer’s most acute opportunities.

    • Create a long term CEO visibility strategy and drive implementation, including identifying, tracking, securing, and executing against an annual calendar of global, top-tier events and thought leadership moments (press & social) by working with cross-functional teams.

    • Develop high-quality written materials that convey the Freshworks’ corporate narrative, including messaging platforms, press releases, Q&As, speeches, opinion articles and social posts.

  • Issues Management

    • Lead the development of a proactive and reactive crisis and issues communications strategy and cross-functional issues management team on the early detection, identification, and proper handling of opportunities or situations that may have a direct impact on corporate reputation.

  • Team Leadership and Development

    • Energize and inspire a team of PR and executive gurus to collaborate on integrated corporate communications programs that position Freshworks as the leader in three large markets, making our software a must-have for the world's modern businesses.

    • Develop and institute communications protocols, best practices, and processes that will drive greater efficiencies across the marketing team and beyond.

  • Cross Functional Partnership

    • Partner with Finance, Legal, Brand & Creative, Product Marketing, and Strategy teams to ensure consistent storytelling and strategic alignment around paid/earned/owned and social content and programs.

Qualifications

  • A proven track record over 15 years formulating messaging and writing exceptional content for c-level executives that differentiates companies in a crowded enterprise software market.

  • A clear understanding of the B2B go-to-market motion and quarterly earnings process that consistently achieves shared goals between Comms, IR and Legal.

  • An adaptable and proactive mindset that lands top-tier business press and keynotes through an ability to near-instantly grok and reformulate the value of enterprise software in a gripping way that inspires prospects to buy.

  • A leader of PR and corporate communications teams that deliver results under high pressure, often ambiguous circumstances, and thrives with minimal direction while being able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Additional Information

California Pay Range: $308,000—$500,500 comprising an annual salary and incentive compensation.

Compensation is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to location, experience, job-related skills, and level. Bonus/equity may be available.
