The role:

The Data Services team is committed to providing a highly available, reliable, secure, and operationally efficient data infrastructure to serve the performance and capacity requirements of the SoFi’s Tech Platform. We are responsible for handling data in the order of Petabytes with the redundancy and retention requirements agreed with our customers.

What you’ll do:

  • Be a technical lead in developing guidelines for managing, upgrading, and deep-dive analysis for operational issues in a highly performing financial service tech platform.
  • Work closely with a team of operations & engineers to ensure the platform is durable and scalable.
  • Work on building tools and processes to enable application teams to ship features that rely on data faster.
  • Provide data storage and access guidelines and best practices in data-intensive application development.
  • Analyze SQL performance and provide recommendations to improve and stabilize performance.
  • Write, test, and deploy efficient, scalable monitoring scripts.
  • Communicate ongoing project health with key stakeholders and business leadership.
  • Provide rotating on-call support.

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years experience in managing highly available RDBMS environments with partitioning and clustering technology (e.g. Postgresql, Oracle).
  • Proficiency in SQL.
  • Proficiency in automating using an object-oriented language (e.g. Python, Java, Go, PowerShell, or equivalent).
  • Proficiency operating RDBMS environments in AWS.
  • Hands-on experience with Schema as Code capabilities and tooling.
  • Hands-on with experience observability tools (e.g., DataDog, Splunk, Cloudwatch).
  • Hands-on with experience version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
  • Hands-on with experience CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, Travis CI, Circle CI).
  • Hands-on with experience configuration management tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice to have:

  • Certifications such as AWS Certification on RDS, Postgresql Professional Certification.
  • Experience with microservices architecture.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with additional cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, GCP).

Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.

$134,400$186,000 USD
