As a Senior Software Engineer in the Aprendo Team, you will play a critical role in building, maintaining, and scaling our analytics platforms, ensuring seamless and reliable access to insights that empower decision-making across the company.

You will work with a high-impact, collaborative team that operates at the intersection of data engineering, distributed systems, and analytics tooling. You will have the opportunity to apply your expertise in big data technologies, cloud platforms, and scalable architectures to shape and optimise Skyscanner’s analytics infrastructure.

In this role, you will also act as a mentor and technical guide for junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Onboard, lead, and mentor a high-performing, diverse engineering team. Foster a culture of growth, innovation, and excellence, helping engineers develop their domain expertise, technical skills, and careers.

• Project Management: Plan and oversee the execution of projects within your squad, ensuring alignment with business priorities, timelines, and quality standards. Track progress, manage risks, and communicate updates to stakeholders effectively.

• Agile Leadership: Champion and implement agile methodologies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure efficient, iterative, and adaptive workflows.

• Technical Strategy: Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to define and prioritise the squad’s roadmap. Leverage your domain expertise to drive informed decisions.

• Analytics Enablement: Lead the development of tools and frameworks that empower teams to create, explore, and share insights efficiently and accurately, ensuring compliance with data governance, security, and performance standards while promoting a self-serve analytics culture across Skyscanner.

• Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams—including product, data science, and security—to understand challenges, identify opportunities, and deliver impactful solutions that align with business objectives.

• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance workflows, tools, and team dynamics, fostering a culture of continuous innovation and improvement.

• Culture Building: Cultivate a culture of transparency, accountability, and high performance. Uphold engineering best practices, including robust testing, CI/CD processes, and high-quality software delivery standards.
