About Skyscanner

Everyone loves travelling, but planning is not without its challenges ✈️ That's why we've spent 20 years building tools that turn travel-planning chaos into a breeze. Today, around 100 million travellers count on us every month to skip the whole “47 browser tabs open” phase and find flights, cars, and hotels quickly and easily 💻

Joining Skyscanner means becoming part of a global brand that's striving to become the planet's go-to travel hack accessible for all 🌍

Our vision? To be the world's number one travel ally. (Ambitious? 💪 Yes, but, hey, that's what got us here)

About the role
(Hybrid)

As a Software Engineer 2 in Stargate, you’ll be part of a front-end–focused, full-stack squad within our Audience Experience group, building user-facing experiences that travellers interact with every day.

Stargate owns the web login and authentication journey, along with a set of post-login experiences that help travellers get more from Skyscanner once they’re signed in. It’s a space where good engineering really shows — clear flows, reliable behaviour, and thoughtful details all make a difference.

You’ll be trusted to own meaningful pieces of work, collaborate closely with others, and keep stretching your skills as the team and product evolve.

What you’ll be doing

  • Building user-facing features: You’ll design and deliver front-end functionality using React, TypeScript and JavaScript, working closely with backend services.
  • Owning deliverables end to end: You’ll take features from idea through to release, making sensible decisions along the way and asking for input when it adds value.
  • Working across the stack: You’ll collaborate confidently with backend systems and teams, understanding how your work fits into the wider platform.
  • Contributing to engineering quality: You’ll write clean, well-tested code and take an active role in code reviews and technical discussions.
  • Supporting experimentation: You’ll help build and iterate on experiments that improve how travellers log in and move through our platform.
  • Collaborating day-to-day: You’ll work closely with designers, product managers and other engineers to shape practical, user-friendly solutions.
  • Continuing to level up: You’ll keep developing your technical skills and judgement, learning from feedback, outcomes and the people around you.

About you

  • Confident software engineer: You’ve built and shipped production web applications and are comfortable owning features without needing step-by-step guidance.
  • Strong front-end experience: You’re confident with React, TypeScript and modern JavaScript, and know how to build accessible, maintainable UIs.
  • Full-stack capable: You’re comfortable integrating with APIs and backend services, and understand how front-end and backend concerns connect.
  • Quality-focused: You care about clean code, sensible abstractions and writing software that’s easy to change and maintain.
  • Product-aware: You like understanding user problems and working with product and design to solve them well.
  • Collaborative: You communicate clearly, contribute ideas, and enjoy working as part of a team.
  • Motivated to grow: You’re keen to keep improving your craft and expanding your impact as an engineer.
