About Skyscanner
Everyone loves travelling, but planning is not without its challenges ✈️. That's why we've spent 20 years building tools that turn travel-planning chaos into a breeze. Today, around 160 million travellers count on us every month to skip the whole “47 browser tabs open” phase and find flights, cars, and hotels quickly and easily 💻.
Joining Skyscanner means becoming part of a global brand that's striving to become the planet's go-to travel hack accessible for all 🌍.
Our vision? To be the world's number one travel ally. (Ambitious? 💪 Yes, but, hey, that's what got us here).
We're looking for a Legal Counsel to join our Legal team in Barcelona. Lawyers at Skyscanner are trusted advisors, strategic partners, and expert dot-connectors, helping the business navigate complex challenges while keeping innovation moving at full speed. If you're excited by variety, curious about technology, and enjoy turning legal complexity into practical solutions, you might be exactly who we're looking for.
About the role
Hybrid
This is a broad, business-facing legal role supporting teams across Skyscanner's global operations. You'll partner closely with stakeholders across commercial, product, advertising, privacy, public affairs and more, providing pragmatic advice that helps the business move confidently and responsibly. You'll also play a key role in helping Legal embrace innovation, including exploring how AI and legal technology can make great legal support even better.
What you'll be doing
- Advising on commercial agreements: Supporting negotiations and providing legal guidance across supplier, travel partner and third-party contracts.
- Navigating advertising regulations: Helping our advertising sales teams operate confidently across global marketing and advertising requirements.
- Supporting product innovation: Advising on product development initiatives, consumer transparency obligations, digital platform regulations and marketplace dynamics.
- Providing broad legal support: Partnering across privacy, sustainability, employment, immigration, public affairs and other legal topics as business needs evolve.
- Building scalable legal solutions: Creating processes, playbooks and efficiencies that help Legal deliver impact at scale.
- Championing legal innovation: Exploring and implementing AI tools and legal technology to improve how we work and support the business.
- Connecting legal and commercial thinking: Developing a deep understanding of our business, industry and regulatory landscape to deliver advice that's practical, strategic and actionable.
About you
- Qualified and experienced: You are a qualified lawyer with 2–4 years' post-qualification experience, either in-house or in private practice.
- Internationally minded: You may be qualified in Spain, England & Wales, another EU jurisdiction, or a common law jurisdiction, and you're comfortable working across borders.
- Strong communicator: You build trusted relationships through clear communication, emotional intelligence and sound judgement.
- Commercially focused: You balance legal risk with business opportunity and know how to deliver pragmatic solutions.
- Comfortable with ambiguity: You thrive in fast-moving environments where priorities can shift and no two days look quite the same.
- Organised and proactive: You can manage multiple matters simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and delivering high-quality work.
- Curious about the future: You're excited by innovation, AI and new ways of working, and you're keen to help shape how modern legal teams operate. Fluency in business English is essential, and professional Spanish language skills are highly desirable.
