About The Role

As Privacy and Regulatory Counsel, you will be integral in securing Headway’s growth with compliance and quality by providing timely, practical legal advice to Headway employees at all levels. To do this, you will advise the business on day-to-day issues involving privacy and security, security risk management, fraud prevention and anti-money laundering, open source software compliance, cross-functional collaboration with the Chief Information Security Officer and engineering teams, regulatory and compliance audits, policy development and training, litigation and dispute resolution in areas related to job scope, and reporting and governance. You will also play an instrumental role in building legally compliant policies, procedures, and practices across the company in support of its mission to build a new mental healthcare system. This is an exciting opportunity, as you’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. This person will report directly to Headway’s General Counsel and will work closely with others on the legal and compliance teams.

You will love this role if:

  • You possess a Juris Doctorate degree and a license to practice law in New York and/or the US jurisdiction in which you reside.
  • You have 5+ years of professional legal experience either in a law firm or corporate environment, preferably a high-growth healthcare, technology, or similar regulated company (finance, banking, etc.).
  • You thrive on giving practical, timely advice to great people doing great work and are committed to working cross-functionally.
  • You are deeply knowledgeable on some or all of the following areas of law: privacy and security, anti-fraud and anti-money laundering, open-source software compliance.
  • You excel at giving actionable advice and understand how to support implementation efforts.
  • You function well in a high-paced environment and are able to quickly adapt to changing priorities and situations.
  • You engage, inspire, build credibility, and trust across all levels of the company.
  • You have exceptional communication, organizational, project management, and prioritization skills.

You Will:

  • Provide general legal business guidance and provide legal support to Headway’s business units
  • Perform research and analysis on a variety of legal and related regulatory topics
  • Develop and help monitor and implement policies and procedures

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary information is based on a single salary target per role and is differentiated based on geographic location (Group A, B, or C)
    • Group A: $220,000
    • Group B: $198,000
    • Group C: $176,000
    • Examples of cities located in each Compensation Grouping:
      • Group A = NYC, SF/Bay Area, LA Area, Seattle, Boston, Austin, and San Diego
      • Group B = Chicago, Miami, Denver, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Nashville, Sacramento, Phoenix, and Portland
      • Group C = All remaining cities
