About Insify
Insurance claims are where trust in insurance dies.
A policyholder files at the worst moment: after a flood, an accident, a disability. What they get back is a PDF, a phone number, and weeks of silence. It's a process designed for the 1980s: structured data trapped in documents, humans manually triaging information that machines should handle in seconds, decisions that take months when they should take moments. This is why people don't trust insurance.
We're changing that.
Insify is a high-growth scale-up backed by €43M in total funding from world-class investors like Accel, Munich Re Ventures, and Formula 1 champion Nico Rosberg. In five years, we’ve expanded from the Netherlands into France and Germany, and we're just getting started. Our mission: become the European leader inAI-powered SME insurance.
We aren't just building a company; we're leading a revolution. Our culture is intense, high-stakes, and mission-driven. We hire smart, ambitious "owners" who possess a relentless drive to win. This is an environment for those who thrive on challenges, value intellectual honesty, and share our mindset of becoming a global category leader.
Our founding team consists of seasoned entrepreneurs who have previously built iconic businesses like HelloFresh, Bloomon, and SumUp. We bring that same bias for speed, scale, and high standards to one of the most structurally broken experiences in financial services. Together, we combine that deep fintech and e-commerce expertise with cutting-edge AI to stay ahead of the curve.
About the role:
We're looking for a Software Engineer with 3+ years of experience to join the Claims team and own the platform that will transform how SME insurance claims work in Europe.
This is greenfield, high-stakes engineering. You’ll build our in-house claims management system from the ground up, replacing legacy third-party administrators, bringing claims fully in-house, and designing the AI-native workflows that will define what modern claims handling looks like.
Every feature you ship directly affects whether a business owner gets their claim resolved when they need it most. You'll also work closely with Claims, Operations, Finance, and our insurance carriers to build a system that handles disability and property claims end-to-end: intake, triage, workflow, payouts, and financial reporting.
What you'll be doing:
- Build the AI-native claims management platform from the ground up, covering both disability insurance (DI) and property & casualty (PnC) claims. This is greenfield work with real business stakes: every claim handled in-house saves the company money. At the same time, you’re setting the standard for what AI-powered claims handling looks like.
- Design and ship the core claims lifecycle: digital first notice of loss (FNOL), AI-assisted triage and routing, case management workflows, claim status tracking, settlement and payout flows.
- Build and maintain integrations with carrier systems, our policy administration platform, and the GRID back-office portal, so claims data flows cleanly across the stack.
- Own the financial module for claims: payout authorisation, reconciliation, and financial reporting that satisfies both carrier and regulatory requirements across NL and FR.
- Partner with Operations and Claims handlers to turn manual, spreadsheet-driven processes into automated, observable workflows. You'll be the engineer in the room who translates operational pain into clean system design.
- Set the engineering bar for the claims domain: correctness, auditability, observability, and recoverability. A bug here affects real policyholders in difficult moments.
- Own incidents and operational health. When something breaks in claims, you'll be one of the people who fixes it.
What you'll need:
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally with TypeScript and AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, event-driven architectures).
- A high bar for correctness and auditability. Claims handling is a regulated domain where data integrity and audit trails are non-negotiable
- Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, state machine design, and API integration. Claims workflows involve many parties and many states.
- Comfort with ambiguity. You'll translate carrier spec documents, legal obligations, and operational processes into working software.
- Ownership instinct. You treat the system as yours, not as someone else's ticket queue.
- Clear communicator. You can sit with a claims handler or a carrier contact and turn a fuzzy requirement into a working feature.
- AI-native in your workflow. You actively use AI for coding, debugging, and tooling to move faster
Nice to have:
- Experience with insurance or health claim workflows: FNOL, case management, settlements, or bordereaux reporting.
- Familiarity with policy administration systems.
- Background in regulated domains: fintech, insurtech, healthcare, or legal tech.
- Experience building operational tooling used by non-technical teams.
- Strong observability instincts (Sentry, Datadog) and a track record of operating production systems.
We offer:
- Competitive compensation that reflects responsibility and impact. For mid-level engineer we have a range between 65-85k per year.
- True ownership and autonomy: you’ll have real ownership and room to make decisions Space to grow and shape your role as Insify evolves.
- A steep learning curve, with support from experienced teammates.
- The opportunity to share in what we’re building, with equity for eligible roles once there’s mutual conviction on fit and impact.
- A welcoming, central Amsterdam HQ where we work closely together: shared lunches, dogs in the office, whiteboards, and fun end-of-week drinks.
- An international, ambitious team that enjoys building meaningful things together.
