This is a full time 14-month maternity leave contract covering a Senior Specialist, Public Relations position within Lightspeed's Global Communications team, based in Montreal. Reporting to the Director of Public Relations, you will develop and drive compelling corporate and industry narratives across North America and Quebec that strengthen Lightspeed's brand and influence with media, customers, and key stakeholders.
This is a high-impact, hands-on role suited to a strategic communications professional who thrives in a fast-paced tech environment and can operate both as a thoughtful strategist and an agile executor.
Please note this role is based in Montreal and the contract will run from July 2026-October 2027

What You’ll Be Doing
Narrative & Media Strategy
- Develop and drive Lightspeed's corporate and industry stories in North America and Quebec, injecting the company's vision and product roadmap into the news cycle.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with reporters and influencers in the tech, business, and mainstream media landscape.
- Work closely with the Director of PR to shape Lightspeed's point-of-view on policy-related topics in Canada and the US.
- Grow the company's media profile among business and enterprise technology press.
- Write, edit, and produce high-quality external communications including press releases, briefing documents, presentations, speeches, and executive bylines.
- Review and edit communications from press partners and agencies to ensure messaging consistency with global comms strategy and brand tone.
- Collaborate with senior leaders and internal stakeholders to understand strategic objectives and align communications accordingly, including product updates and customer/partner storytelling.
- Coordinate with data science, business analyst teams, and external vendors to develop a calendar of data-driven stories tied to product announcements and major events.
- Partner with sales and marketing teams to align communications with revenue-generation initiatives.
- Support senior leaders on issues management, media interview preparation, and crisis communications.
- Bring creative, proactive thinking to identify opportunities for Lightspeed to shape its industries and engage target audiences.
- Establish clear objectives and success metrics for communications initiatives; track and report on results.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously using Monday.com, maintaining clear stakeholder communication throughout.
- Monitor project budgets and resource allocation to ensure efficient execution.
- 5+ years of progressive public relations or corporate communications experience, preferably in B2B technology or a fast-growth tech company.
- Exceptional writing skills — you can simplify complex concepts and craft sharp, strategic messaging for diverse audiences.
- Proven track record of securing meaningful media coverage in tech and business press.
- Experience collaborating with and advising senior executives on communications strategy.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities and deadlines.
- Comfort with data storytelling — you know how to turn numbers into headlines.
- Experience supporting crisis communications and issues management.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is a strong asset given Lightspeed's Quebec headquarters.
- Familiarity with Monday.com or comparable project management tools is an asset.
